He's certainly found his niche, Is it genius recruiting or a byproduct of them having so many better midfielders? We'll probably never know, but given it is Melbourne they don't exactly get the benefit of the doubt.

It makes sense really, not everyone can be a gun midfielder, it's a credit to him that he's managed to carve out a role and do it really well.

Melbourne tried to play him off HBF then as a midfielder so yeah more trial and error than anything else
 
Wasn’t it his choice to leave on a bigger contract for longer than we were willing to offer? He also wanted a fresh start (who wouldn’t for more money and better job security?) and was friends with Simon Goodwin who had moved over there too.

It’s not like we kicked him out the door. All quotes from the time tend to imply we were quite disappointed.

And we turned the pick we got for him into Mason Redman 🤷‍♀️

We didn't do too badly with those trades.

Carlisle & Melksham into Francis & Redman (plus Bird).
Shame Morgan didn't work out.
