Yeah, that was the one. Maybe I'm being too hard on Melksham but I think he had another option over the top... Either way that passage should have resulted in a goal.
No doubt Melksham should've kicked the goal once he had it. I just don't think he ever should've had the ball in the first place.

Unlike the Carlton game, I don't think I really saw a glaring error. He kinda coulda maybe run away from the defender to get the ball to Joe for the running shot (but I'd normally prefer the guy with the momentum to take the shot, so that's hindsight heroics), and he shoulda (and normally would IMHO) slot the set shot, but he was pretty clean, had a good crack, got into clear space 4 or 5 times, and generally made good decisions.
Just fell down a bit on skill execution.

Yeah havng watched the replay I think this is a fair assessment. certainly very few 'ffs melksham' moments.

I want to say that the knock threw his kicking off, because he had used the ball very well until then, but he seemed to be running with enough freedom and it seemed like the set shot was just a case of getting too close to the man on the mark and not being able to kick through the ball.

Thought he did a lot right, including winning a few telling possessions, making some big tackles and continuing to put his body on the line particularly after copping the heavy hit. Solid game, not like last week but he is not going to be anywhere near a dropping on performances like that.

thought melksham was excellent. won a lot of important ball in the air and at ground level. will end up finishing nights like these with those two goals. still very much on track to be a quality player.

His performance mirrors his aggression. Showed real mongrel and determination in the last qtr and I think TRB know he has this in spades. Just needs to be confident in his place in the team which probably explains faith they have shown in him by rarely dropping him. Remember, he was drafted on the back of a BOG in the Under 18s GF.

Not only did he show needed aggression through the contests, but his agility was impressive too. If he can find some consistency, he can become a really important player for us. Always been a fan of this kid and am looking forward to seeing him develop further :thumbsu:

Gun!

I take it all back.

I can see the flashes of brilliance in his game and he REALLY stepped up and won some important ball in the second half.

I honestly believe that if Melksham could put it together, he'd be an absolute star.

100% worth persisting with.

Starting to really see why the coaches persist with him. He's a strange player, odd skillset. He actually reminds me of Matthew Knights (as a player, relax).
He needs to work on his no-look kick when he's not under much pressure, but really on track now.
