Melksham is definitely getting better, I think its just a matter of confidence.
I have a Bomber friend of mine who absolutely hates Melksham. We regularly debate his spot in the side. He is convinced that Kane Lucas from Carlton is a better player. I'm hoping Melksham can keep up his form and become the player we all know he can be.

Who is Jake Melksham similar to?

Who should he aspire to get to a similar level?

Kane Lucas is a front-running squib choker

I think Melksham is that sort of NvB type who can just do a good job off HB, HF or as a run-with role through the middle while providing an option for his opponent to defend against.

Licka's goal is definatly GOTY. Wizardry.
I'll give Ch. 7 their fair dues, they got the live camera angle spot on for Licka's goal, which made it all the more enjoyable, as you could see him think his way through it. Still needed a good bounce and all that, but he gave it every chance.

Any reason why Jake's goal couldn't have been sent up for review for the OOB issue? Great goal anyway, as was his goal in the last. Been really good the last few weeks, amazing what a bit of continuity will do for a player's confidence.

Stoked to have been wrong about him being selected every week. Goes to show how much is unknowable from the distance of a supporter. For all the world he seemed to need more VFL development time, but then bang! He arrives.
My bet is that if we win the flag this year his coming of age will have been one of the biggest factors. You would think we need him taking one more small step up during the finals and our midfield will be all class coast to coast.

If more people understood this BigFooty wouldn't have a reason to exist. Same with Kommer, I trust Hird has his reasons for keeping him in the side despite the outrage on this board.

Last year's winner was OOB, so I don't see why not

Feeling a big game from Melky tomorrow.

We're missing 4 of our starting 9 nine midfielders, including our #1 (Jobe), possibly our #2 (Zaharakis) and our best tagger/blocker (Hocking).

He's already stepped up since Hocking's injury forced him up the pecking order, and I reckon he could be in for a 30-possession game with Zaka now out.

Part of me would really like to see Melk, Hepp and Myers start in the centre tomorrow to see how they go and save Stants and Goddard for if we struggle.

Melksham is high draft pick who just seemed to need more time. Clearly not much more time! Kommer is mature and from what TRB say themselves, this is exactly the way he played last year in the WAFL. It's not so clear that he going to develop. Meanwhile Davey gets left on the sidelines? wtf? With 17 goals this year? That is more than Kommer has including his goal assists! Don't know what Davey's goal assist tally is but i bet it isn't bad. Add that to the tackle count and you have a perplexing scenario. From my deluded distance of the TV screen, there is no comparison between the two of them in what they add to the team week in week out. Remember the biggest issue we had early on in the year was the midfield kicking to Davey rather than letting him crumb it! Kommer does one or two really good things most weeks. It's not enough.

The thing is he's now our best tagger in the side so we should keep him playing as a stopper on Callan Ward, then Luke Hodge next week

He's not playing it in the same role that Hocking does, though.

He's "running with" guys for about 80% of games, it's not exactly a "hard tag".
