so he said on Monday 2 players already out and you think he's only going to drop 1.

There is a whole bunch of throwing the baby out with the bathwater going on in here this week.

He has more backbone than some are saying.

I believe he will definitely drop 2, but one of them will be made emergency and then will come in as a late change. Nevertheless, I am sure that player will have received the message - screw up one more time and... and... go to your room.

That's easy to say as a supporter.

Professional athletes though need to be able to rebound from disappointment just as easily as they need to come down from a big win.

I think it would massively surprise a few posters here who some of the NMFC players are who are from the mindset about being able to emotionally distance themselves from the disappointment of a loss. I also think it's interesting that some of the more pilloried players here at BigFooty are precisely the ones who really do take losses to heart.

I won't mention too many names, but I will say this; having been in the rooms after a loss, one of the players who looked to be taking it harder than most was MacMillan, who has a history of being unfairly criticised often here.

So let's get some perspective, yeah?

Ive never had a dig at him, too young, still developing to do so. But i doubt anyone questioned his endeavor. The start of this season most were calling him a leader despite still being a pup. Would love him back in the team ASAP.

But i take your point, a players emotions dont matter as much as what they DO about it. That said people that give everything are usually heavily invested, so more often than not you'd expect server disappointment at a loss.

-------------------------------

Scott said in an interview he really ripped into them during the game review i think it was. Also said they * arent ruthless enough - which means perhaps he hasnt been ruthless enough with them. Appears times are a changing for the player group.

* been saying we lack ruthlessness/ killer instinct for some time now, this is why last year we'd get 5 goal leads and stop - often losing as we couldnt regain momentum. And this year we often come good when a team threatens to embarrass us.

rubbish - changes should be decided by fan vote.

"SMS BASTINAC to 133 6969 to omit Ryan from Friday nights game!"

You sure that number is right? I got a response from some lady who says we do bondage, femdom, scat and golden showers but draw the line at performing like Bastinac.

And I believe this is part of the problem. We have lost that tough edge.
Before it was us against them, we were the poor relations and fought tooth and nail to muscle our way in.
Most of the blokes playing now really have no idea how tough it was to be a North Melbourne footballer. There is a couple still there but the others have had the great facilities and as such have become SOFT. This Gen Y stuffs irks me. Get them in the boxing ring and make them tough, make them want to fight, want their spot. Doesn't help that the blokes pushing for a spot are a bit thin on the ground too
that's a tainted view of the past. Year after year we had an appalling percentage because we took some absolute beltings. The old "you know you'll get a game against North" was a load of crap. Time and time again we would just roll over and not give a shit.

The Russian was just as tough as Rocky, training facilities had nothing to do with.

Our biggest problem is we've got no arrogance. We've got no one with the strut, no one with that fruc you I'm better than you attitude. Every team that plays us thinks they can beat us, we don't intimidate anyone.

I don't want us to draft the best player, I want us to draft the kid that thinks he's the best play.

If a player recovers from a loss quicker than others, who cares that is their nature. As long as they can look in the mirror after the game and say 'I gave everything I could.'
Over a handful of players couldn't say that last Saturday night.

Spot on. 100% is going flat out when its you time to go. You do this, you can walk of with head held high no matter what.

Supergav?
be didn't have it on the field. I want guys like Worsfold and Archer. Work hard and are modest off the field but hold their head high and take no shit on the field. We don't have this type of player. A few weeks ago, can't remember when or who it was but one of our guys was being manhandled and roughed up but about 3 or 4 guys just ran past and no one went to help him out or fly the flag.

Spud tries to lift the team at times and Two Dogs is showing he could be one to carry the team but essentially we are crying out for leadership.

As good as Swallow is I'm starting to think his style is too much in the Brad Scotts coaching style of leadership.

Any chance Grima will play another senior game at NMFC? Its getting very annoying hearing him on SEN rather than doing rehab.

******* hilarious guy. Why the hell he isnt our media guy I have no idea.
Imagine Narni as our coach. Membership would triple just to listen to his pearls of wisdom!

A very interesting conversation between the two this morning talking North.

When asked about how can a team beat top 4 sides but lose to bottom teams his initial reply was interesting. He said under Laids they would have been told to bring the mouthguards for a bit of rock n roll. So Kings asked what does Scott do he replied that Brad is different and is more subdued and seethes more internally. I might add that he ummed and arred at the start when talking about Scotts.

Then the conversation turned to how individually they took the loss and Grima said that there are players who are emotionally invested in the club who take losses hard while others don't and can distance themselves from it.

I wonder how many Hawks, Dockers, Swans and Cats players in each squad don't feel a loss or the pressure associated with it?

Get real, get tough Scotts, this is a business yet you treat it like some education centre. Get ruthless FFS.

We should drop all players who aren't emotionally invested.
If you don't care get out.

I would drop ziebell, bastinac, adams and warren.
There are times to be measured and considered then there are times when you need to harden the .... up and get them to play ruthless football.

We have weak leaders - there good blokes - there not ruthless and hard on their teammates.

Dal- Nice bloke
Harvey - Nice bloke
Swallow - Nice bloke
Gibson - Nice bloke
Ziebell - Demanding but again a nice bloke.
Wells - Nice bloke

There simply not hard enough on each other.

Do you think chapman, steve j, scarlett, selwood would put up those performances - i dont think so...that is our issue.

I heard Wild Scotts say during the week that he thinks players are a true reflection on their coach and clearly what he's been doing is not working, so some changes will be made this week.

It will be very interesting to see what changes are made but imo a statement needs to be made. There should be at least 4 changes made this week even if it means we lose the game. These guys need to be made aware from now on if you dont perform you will be dropped.

Ziebell has never been dropped. This is more than likely the statement that would send tremors through the group. Not saying it should be this week, but if Brad wants to show the rest of the playing group he means business then the VC should get the chop after another poor game. Ziebell may well be injured too, so could freshen up before finals with a miss or two.

Lol at Grima who on The Bounce last night gave a "bake" to Drew Petrie for not going for goal firstly and then missing Bastinac with the pass. "You're a leader Drew, kick the goal" he said.

It comes from the top. We have gone too far into process driven void of emotion with our coaching and motivation imo. You need that extra spark to be the best in sport.

The moment that summed it up for me was the Carlton game last year. Coach and player (Adams possibly on guidance from the club) bending over backwards to explain we won't target Judd, just another game blah blah.

How different might it have been if Ziebell had said "he hurts one of us, he hurts all of us. Chris Judd wouldn't want to be in the hole with Drew roaring in this week, that's all I'm saying" - with the playing group performing accordingly. Put some anticipation in their minds that they're in for a dogfight.

Instead it was more of the meek, weak, filtered response. Message to other clubs 'mess with North, they won't even fight back'.

I wonder how Hawthorn would've treated Judd next time round if he chicken winged Luke Hodge.
