Poor guy, what s-it luck he has had. Hopefully he makes a comeback and if he doesn't, please SEN get rid of Andrew Gaze and employ Nathan Grima.

So what do the haters have to say about our recruiters taking durdin/ nielson now? Seems like they got it spot on once again.

Tippett comes straight in raring to go and now we have Durdin, Nielson and Tarrant all fighting for Firrito's spot if he dips in form at all.

By the way, has anyone actually seen Tarrant down back yet in training? I have very little faith in him succeeding down back tbh..
Been to training just once so far this preseason but was very impressed with Tarrant down back, very athletic, strong and competitive. I'd expect Taz to cement a KPD position in our best 22

Absolutely horrible news. I really feel for the bloke and I desperately hope he can get back and somehow clock up that 100th game. I think there's few players who deserve it more than him.

With Hansen also seemingly destined for a late start it really throws a massive opportunity to one or two of Tarrant, Tippett or Nielsen. Whichever of those guys can take it during the NAB Challenge could be in line for for a round 1 start. I think Scott would be likely to go with Tarrant and Tippett but with all the reports around Nielsen's competitiveness I wouldn't count him out.

On Hansen, does anyone know when he'll be right to play or resume full training? Is it likely he'll be fit by round 1?

What a bummer.

If this does prove to be his final year, the silver lining is that with his contract extension, it allows him this year to get his life sorted.

Poor bastard.

Big hit to our backline and team as a whole, thankfully the recruiters saw this coming and drafted accordingly, absolute shit news for Nathan, hope he makes his way back into the squad for our flag run.

Poor guy. Was probably going to retire at the end of the year anyway but he deserved to have one injury free year and make it to his 100th.

Absolutely shattered for him

86 games played? May make it hard for him to reach 100 now.
Hopefully he can do an Ian Fairly and play his last game & 100 game on GF day.

nice sentiment, but...
played 217 over a 14 yr career
kicked the last goal, on the siren I think in the 96GF, his last game

bad news for Nathan, only played 11 H&A last yr so maybe he can bounce back

Poor guy. I think he knows that his body just can't do it. Lucky he's got a nifty lawn business going on that he can swiftly move into.

But seriously, this guy is a character the club needs, and no doubt we'll see him annoying the piss out of the boys in the media.

It sounds like a very serious injury and I think come September, we could be seeing the last of him.

At his peak he was brilliant but his body couldn't hold up for him. Terrible news and I'm shattered for the bloke. Mend well Narni.

My old man agrees with you. Reckons that would allow Brown a fast-track to development through game experience.

It opens up our forward line and gives us many more options. I just think Drew in the backline balances the team. Unfortunately everyone thinks I'm a crackpot.:D

You're suggesting change, and a big one at that.

A lot of people are adverse to change (and admitting they are wrong, but that's a whole other kettle of fish), especially when the outcome is a relative unknown, and the situation as it stands isn't too bad, which many people would argue.

Personally, I don't think you're a nut for suggesting it (far from it), and would in fact like to see us trial it in nab cup/challenge/crapshoot. IMO we have more young forwards at the right age for AFL experience, than we do young backs. Drew already spends a bit of time down there, especially towards the end of quarters it seems, I'd like to see how he fairs with an actual matchup for a game.

We won't have a good idea of how it would go long-term, unless we see if Drew is capable of it down back, and if the forwards are capable of moving up a spot.

Shattering news. I've been boiling my eyes out all day. Enough of the finger-painting at NMFC Headquarters and let's get on with the job guys.
Yeah well if we had gone to the Gold Coast or had stitched up a deal to play seven home games in Mapmania this wouldn't have happened. :stern look
