Callum Sinclair

Player Profile

Callum Sinclair was traded from the West Coast Eagles to the Sydney Swans ahead of season 2016 and has since played vital roles as a key forward and ruckman. Over his first two seasons at the Swans he played primarily as a forward as Kurt Tippett and Sam Naismith carried the ruck load, but the retirement of Tippett and Naismith’s ACL rupture left him with the chief ruck duties in 2018 and 2019. That was until he dislocated his right shoulder twice in Round 15, an injury that ended his season. Sinclair banked a stellar 2020 pre-season campaign and has a burning desire to play every game at the top level this year. Draft history: 2013 Rookie Draft selection (West Coast) No. 12; 2014 AFL Draft rookie elevation (West Coast); 2015 AFL Draft traded by West Coast for Lewis Jetta.

They’re extremely fit professional footballers that play for a maximum of 2 hours per week for 6 months of the year. They train a few hours per day, enjoy a bye round mid season and have 8 weeks holiday. Burnout is crap, that’s for us normal people who work long hours 5 days per week, 48 weeks of the year. We’ve just got to HOPE he doesn’t get injured!

Sinclair should be the number 1 rucks...he is the superior player, what he lacks in hit outs he makes up for with disposals around the ground / marking (funny talking about marking with sinclair). Sinclair can actually kick where naismith has to hand it off. Sinclair can go forward and actually be effectice.

Sinclair is better player

Sinclair's worst game this season (11 disposals, 32 hitouts) is about on par with the best game of Naismith's career (probably 12 disposals, a goal and 25 hitouts in a 90 point flogging of Freo - even though he got beaten by Zac Clarke, or 9 disposals and 45 hitouts against GWS)

So what, aren’t Grundy’s stats better than the grappling octopus from Richmond? You can compare anyone with anyone but that doesn’t indicate a selection or pecking order, especially in the eyes of the club!

Very good point, we don't always select based on form and ability

Do I sense an avatar change coming up?

I thought about it but he's too popular! It needs to be someone unappreciated by the uneducated masses, like stars Laidler and Pyke

There is zero chance he won't spend time on the sidelines at some point, and that will probably increase if he doesn't get any support. Personally I don't understand why we don't give Cameron some game time now and give Sinclair more time forward.

Needs to be a big game performer. Also needs to be a bit of an underrated battler, not someone on a very long term multi-million dollar deal (rules out Buddy too :( )

Your definition of underrated battler and big game performer needs a rejig.

Sincas 40 hit outs against McEvoy ! Takes the chocolates. Surely he is leading the b & f!
They had a really great battle, I thought. Big Boy took some key contested marks and they both missed an opportunity to impact on the scoreboard, but we smashed them in clearances, so I'll give it to Sinclair on points.

Love the way he goes about it. And the way he loves going about it too - the genuine excitement on his face in the rooms after the game is great to see.
