Standout

Round 18, 2018 (versus Carlton): Although his opponents weren't much chop, Ceglar well and truly got the job done for the Hawks, with 16 disposals, four marks and 37 hit-outs.

Shocker

Qualifying final, 2018 (versus Richmond): Brought back into the team after an absence of two weeks, it was pretty clear that Hawthorn's game-plan was to stretch the Tigers aerially, with Ceglar expected to team with McEvoy to dominate the Tigers in the ruck and up forward. However, the Tigers were too good to fall for that trick (especially when the rain made the ground slippery) and Ceglar's influence was limited at best.

Great to see cegs back.

Came in handy when McAvoy had his face caved in.

Hopefully it's onwards and upwards for him in 2019.

You can literally see how much better ceglar looks after his stewy dew moment against the giants. He's taking the game on, marking brilliantly around the ground, has been great down low for a big man and is repaying the club for their investment in him over the years.

Great game on the weekend. He played to his strengths, being quite mobile for a ruck to get plenty of touches around the ground and his marking was excellent.

It’s great to see him clunking marks at both ends of the ground. Fingers crossed his body lets him continue to play with this intensity. Feel like he has earned some luck.

Ceglar before doing his knee played some ripping footy. I am suprised that people find his form over the past two weeks as surprising.

Did i mention...suprised

Agree. He's shown before that he can be in the top 5 or so rucks in the league IMO.

Which makes it a really interesting situation come trade time if he gets back to his former best. He is better than the ruckman of some of the top 8 teams at the moment. Wonder how much they'd be interested in paying to get a 10-20% upgrade on their current ruck...

That first quarter was something else

There is continual talk that clubs are interested. GWS were the last from memory.
Im more inclined to think he's a keeper. Pitto has not had enough senior exposure but im not sure he has shown enough consistently to warrant a call up either.

GWS coaxed Mumford out of retirement to fill a gap in their ruck division ahead of trying to get Ceglar from Hawthorn. I think that tells a tale of how other clubs with a need perceived Ceglar at the last trade period.

Ceglar taking the game on is a wonderful sight. More power to him. I don't think he realises how good he can be.
Now, if he could get a little unsociable that would be great.

Jonathon Ceglar has put pen to paper on a new deal this week, keeping him in the brown and gold for at least another three years.

JC is a real loyal clubman.
If you look at how we've used him, and dropped him, and made him wait when he probably plays at 80% of other clubs, it's a pretty classy move to stick with us just as we show a little real belief in him.
I've always been a fan, reckon he could win a PCM one year with continuity, has a tonne of ability.
Nice signing.
