0.8% less than Hibberd.

0.8%
From our back six he's 5th in disposal efficiency. If you add the bit part players he drops further. Unless you consider all our back six to be elite users of the ball than yes you can say that.

Otherwise the stats and honest opinions will tell you that he's fluff too much stuff coming out of defence.

You're talking about 0.8 kicks per hundred, or 0.2 compared to Gleeson. To you this might be a major issue. To everybody else however, Hurley's field kicking is fine.

He's an immaculate kick of the ball. Technique, penetration and decision-making are all great.

Often, this season, there was a dearth of options up the field due to the slow, weak-running midfield and shambolic forward line. He also does try to bite-off more than he can chew at times.

That said, I couldn't give a **** if he makes AA or otherwise.

It's funny, so many want AA status granted to their own players, but those same players have such huge issues with a number of inclusions each year.

Desperately wanting their player to make a team that in the same breath they think is an over rated achievement based on rubbish selections.

Club Doctor Bruce Reid said his shoulder had also caused some problems.

“He has had two sub-luxation’s of his shoulder so he is having reconstructive surgery,” he said.

“The type of surgery that he’ll be having is similar to David Myers and they make a full recovery in 12-14 weeks.”

Given that timeframe, Hurley will be able to participate in running drills when pre-season starts in November, but he may need to wait an extra couple of weeks to begin full weight training.

To sum it up - Hurley is an excellent long kick on both feet and actually close to the elite level, whereas his short kicking is inconsistent - Hibberd is a reliable kick, but below AFL standard in handballing.
