Bump.

Best kid in the draft. Only 10 pages after 11 days...
Looking forward to this kid ripping games apart in the not so distant future.

We seem a bit blazaie about him because he has been so talked about for months. Comments from training keep suggesting he is something special and will impact straight away. Looking forward to seeing him in Navy Blue. Cripps Dow SPS Setterfield Walsh could all be elite. That is better than any other side

Add Stocker to the potential elite. I think he could be something very special

Think we'll have to wait until he steps out for the first time (JLT/AFLX) for his thread to get going. He's so well rounded enough without any massive apparent flaws so the discussion so far is mainly "yeah, he's pretty good and was the obvious pick"

He'll have to shake off the doubters who are still like "But... but... Rankine... x-factor... we stuffed up..."
We will end up extremely pleased that we went with Sam, I have no doubt.

One might kick goal of the year and make the ‘top 5’ highlights a few times a season while the other could be in the top 5 on ground nearly every week.

Even in the small clips we've seen of Walsh, he shows up to be a beautiful mover....a gilder.

On the evidence I saw, even though he hasn't the tearaway speed of one or two, he creates separation well and keeps a cool head about him, understanding his surrounds. I'd much sooner this than speed for speeds sake.
It may look pretty for a mid to extend the distance between himself and the chaser, but I don't care if you create a metre and keep that metre, as long as you know what you're going to do with the ball and execute to advantage.....Enter Sam Walsh.

So we're talking about an endless chain with elite mids ..
Me likey .

Just look at the list Dave

Cripps
Dow
Walsh
SPS
Setterfield

All look elite or potentially elite

Kennedy
Fisher
Stocker
O’Brien

At worst look very good

Cuningham
Polson
Lang
Pickett

All have the ability just need to prove it

Ed & Murphy aren’t finished yet. Bugg is 25 and can tag as well.

That list is not only deep but has as much top end talent in one group as I have ever seen on a list at one time. I don’t many outside the club understand how good [emoji41]

Good post Soapmann, puts it into perspective..

For all the analysis and hypotheticals offered on here all I really see is:

An elite defence that will work together well for the next 8 plus years

An amazing midfield covering all areas that can dominate once it gets the experience. Most can also push forward and be damaging.

and a forward line that has options and flexibility to worry any side.

Any holes and depth will be added over the next 2-3 years.

Once it all clicks that is a very impressive side that with good development and a bit of luck will win a lot of games

Sam is a jet midfielder, consummate professional, even before stepping on the park this youngster oozes inspiration, I'd expect he'll get close to winning Rising Star for next season.

Agree Soapy,
Silvagni and team have worked diligently, delivered plenty in 2018 trade/ Draft.
Bugg Mc Govern Fasolo, instant forward fire power with versatility in a previous dismal postion.
Newman and Goddard strengthening backline another positive.
Engine room, just pouring on more elite talent with grunt, Walsh Stocker Setterfield.
Recruiting team have been excellent and during 2019/2020 seasons we'll see results.
Very exciting times for CFC, forget past gloom , very hard to keep a lid on it.

Add Coniglio and an elite small forward and we’ll have the chance to do what GWS were supposed to.

Go Sam!

We now officially have more top-20 draft picks on our list than any other club.
Even more than GWS! (Which isn't surprising, given how many ended up being traded to us...)

Hope that number, does include the older guys like Thomas, Murphy etc

It does. Although the number is actually 21 (edit: 23) first rounders, not 20 like some articles have said. Think some miss that Cuningham was still in the 1st round, even though he was pick 23.

(Edit: was brain dead and made mistakes... corrected O’Brien, added Doc and Goddard)

1 Murphy, Kreuzer, Weitering, Walsh
2 Thomas
3 Plowman, Dow
4 Pickett
5 Setterfield
6 Marchbank, Petrevski-Seton
10 McKay, O’Brien
12 Docherty, Curnow
13 Cripps, Kennedy
15 Garlett
16 Lobbe, Lang
19 Stocker
21 Goddard
23 Cuningham
