And my opinion is that if posters are mind readers then they are truly gifted individuals.
How about you share an opinion on on our players or team rather then our posters.

If we can't speculate on why players are out of form/in form then wtf is the point of the forum?

If I was to speculate on your posting I would say I find your defeatist attitude and excepting of mediocrity pretty soft.

Now your turn to bag me:rainbow:

Atley is out of form and having a run in the twos to hopefully improve his form. It's pretty simple and I didn't even try and read his mind. I just hope he doesn't get any information over load in the twos - at least we have the mind readers to update us if does happen.

Yeh I am unsure about that...he seems to be a straight line runner with a somewhat lack of awareness as to who is coming up behind him?
Completely disagree with this. He is super fast in a straight line sprint, no doubt. But I've seen him display magnificent awareness and evasive skills time and time again when he was in form

The bottom line is if we're to win a flag post Boomer and Wells, we need him to become Paddy Dangerfield. If you're happy with a 5th to 8th ceiling then by all means take him back to HB and try and turn him into Heath Shaw.

Completely agree with the sentiment in this post. If Atley isn't turned into a mid he'll most likely spend his career as a B Grade half back.

Shaun Atley had clear instructions - take the game on.

Playing in his first VFL game for four years, the 22-year-old was seeking to recapture the run and carry which had eluded him in recent weeks for North Melbourne.

For the most part, Atley was able to deliver. Showing his trademark speed and acceleration out of congestion, he had 20 disposals (10 contested) and an equal team-high six clearances.

"It was all about trying to get some confidence," Atley told NMFC.com.au."It was a chance to get back to basics and work on what makes me a good player.

"I was playing more through the midfield trying to get that run and carry.

"There were patches where I was able to do that but you can always do it more, and that's what I'm here to work on."

RELATED: Roosters Report Card

Development Manager Ben Dyer was pleased with Atley's game.

"Obviously he hasn't been able to do as well as he would have liked in the AFL. The fact that he had 10 contested disposals was really positive," he said.

"He was wing early and then inside for the most part of the second half.

"We said pre-game that we'll cop any mistakes that happen when you're taking the game on, because we needed him to get comfortable doing so at this level.

"That way when he gets back, he's better at doing so and can transfer it to AFL level."

Considering the conditions that greeted the players in Ballarat, it hardly seemed like the ideal practice ground for Atley to work on specific areas of his game.

However the focus was on getting the mindset correct, and the number 18 thrived on the inside.

"In the VFL I think you have to win more of your own ball, which was good for me today. I could do that and then work on my run and attack from there."

Luckily for Atley, there was little of the unfamiliarity with Roosters' teammates which could have hindered his afternoon.

"There's still a core group from when I played my first year here.

"Everyone here is a good bloke and they're all easy to get along with. It's a great culture here so it doesn't take any time to settle in."

I've been concerned for some time that Ats is not good in one-on-one marking contests, even against smaller opponents, watches his opponent instead of the ball when it's coming into his area and looks decidedly shaky deep in defence. He would be an easy opponent to coach against in a clutch game.

So yeah, free Ats into the midfield. He has heaps of promise - still.

I like the VFL instructions to throw him in the inside midfield, 6 clearances is good, leave him in the twos for another week or two and bring in mullet for Jacobs.

TBH I expected him to be a late inclusion and the axing a notional scare. Spud and Scotty sound like a slow and undersized backline partnership. I guess the fact he ran around means that won't happen.
