Hot on the heels of Hawthorn gifting us Rising Star nom and future Hall of Famer Ryan Bastinac last year, now it emerges they have given us Shaun Atley too!

The ever reliable Emma Quayle writes:

North Melbourne, the only club to use a compensation pick, benefited: it got crafty forward Kieran Harper, a player it had looked at for pick 17.

Thus, had we not plamed Hales off to them, we would have been in a horrible dilemma come pick 17.

Instead, we took the best available in Atley and sat back to snare our main target ten picks later.

I believe the 'Thanks for Bastinac and Atley' line should be deployed at every opportunity.

Haha.

Its like he woke up one morining early in the season and thought 'i think i will be a good player now'

Mr Reliable.
Said the same thing about Luke’s performance last night.
And Turner. And Durdin.
There’s some surety and belief in their games almost as if they are playing roles within their capabilities.

Atley doesn’t fumble doesn’t panic and makes good decisions.

He's had a really, really good season, but that last kick will haunt him for a long time to come. It was just inexcusable.

I know there's a million moments in a game that can affect the outcome, but it's hard not to look at that kick and that decision to kick it there as crucial.

Kept Zaharakis to 15 touches and had a pretty good night. Can blame him for the rush of blood on the last quarter.

Probably should have been shifted onto Mcdonald Tingpunwuti in the 2nd quarter.

He has been excellent all year. Real maturity to his game.
But that last kick was a shocker.
Downright nightmare.

He shouldnt be panicking like that, at this stage of his career. Just shouldnt.

Makes you sick

In actual fact I accidentally landed on Page 1 of this Thread and that makes me sicker

He probably cost us the game this week. We had them done & dusted.

That cross field pass was the most idiotic thing he's done in his career.

It puts a blemish on what has been a very good season.

The issue is even if he went in that direction, get some metres on it.

That way we could set up.

It was akin to kicking a ball back to the coach at training who is setting up forward plays. Clanger personified.
