They averaged almost 7 yards per running play if you take out Garoppolo's 2 attempts (20 attempts for 139 yards). And they had two plays to get that 5 yards, not one.
Garoppolo checked to a new play on the 2nd and 5. Shanahan may have called a run we don't know. But there was still a wide open Kittle 5 yds over the middle and Jones just made a championship play

At the end of the day people will always want to point the finger rather than just giving credit where it is due to Jones

The entire SB54, the result, was BECAUSE of both factors, not just one --- the Chiefs bringing the heat on D to allow Mahomes to make a comeback + Mahomes lifting his game in the 4th....AND...Shanahan/Garoppolo folding instead of icing the game. Both things were interconnected, not isolated.

There's no Shanahan/... It's just Garoppolo. Sorry

Just goes to show Shanahan IS still responsible LicoriceAllsorts because all he had to do was run the ball vs the Pats, and kick that FG instead of Ryan getting sacked...and they would've won it.

And...vs the Chiefs, he should've run it a little more in the 4th to eat time, move the chains. Even just a LITTLE more.

Garoppolo is not as good a QB as Ryan and Ryan still messed up -- because the play-caller put him in a bad spot. Same with Garoppolo -- apart from that woeful miss of a wide open Kittle (all Jimmy's fault), Shanahan still kept putting the game on Jimmy's shoulders instead of Mosterts.

I'll give you one play he should have run the ball... but he still schemed a wide open easy pass. EVEN THO it was a play that Garoppolo checked to. So Shanahan may have called a run we never know. Simply can not blame him whatsoever

Garoppolo is not as good as Ryan and Shanahan put the game on his shoulders...he put Garoppolo in a high-fail situation. Of course Shanahan is involved in the blame. Not all. But partial. Not 50:50 with Jimmy, but something like 40:60. Again, I go back to how Shanahan kept running the ball vs the Packers, utilizing a lot of pre-snap motion and pulling guards, etc, to create extra confusion, misdirections, to make those meat and potato zone runs still work.

Shanahan is not on the field. All he can do is put his team in a position to succeed, and that he did. Exemplary performance from him for the majority of the 4th quarter

Just like McVay wasn't on the field so he bears no blame for being completely out-smarted with play-calls and basic gameplan?

Same with Belichick...never on the field, so he has no blame or credit for any of the SB wins or losses?

Except that Shanahan didn't get outsmarted (last drive/2 yes he did). McVay got completely outsmarted and truly went away from what worked all year and what the Patriots were bad at defending. Shanahan continuously had men open until the last 2 come from behind drive attempts

What we're doing here is the equivalent of criticising Russell Wilson for only finishing 2nd in the MVP. It's stupid

Do we blame Pete Carroll or Russell Wilson for that call of a pass play and an INT vs the Pats?

We say well done Malcolm Butler/Pats coaches for studying the film and making the big time play at the big time moment.
no...

we blame carroll for a bad play call
we blame wilson for telegraphing it or not checking out of the play
we credit butler for reading it.

we apportion cause and effect to all parties involved directly in that play.

Except that...

a. it was a good play call
b. Wilson did as he was meant to
lol, no one in the world thinks it was a good play call...not even carroll. since then the entire nfl community agrees they shouldve run lynch once, twice, three times.

That's wrong. Plenty of people think it was good play call. The game situation in itself determines that it was good play call. Maximising your opportunities to score and win.

The people saying it was a bad call are the casual fans who only know a handful of names, one of them being Marshawn Lynch

I'm not surprised that you say it was a bad play call tho. Mr. 3 yards and a cloud of dust is efficient football.

Also Carroll did not say it was a bad play call. He said it was the worst result to a play call and would've been a great play call if they caught it... But you keep bringing up fake news (as I said, highly intelligent computer, but your NFL knowledge is poor)

It's the same typical stuff that we always see tho. Reactionary people (i.e. low intelligence) going crazy over results, but not taking the time to look into the actions that brought about the results. Just because you had a bad result does not mean the action was poor. Such a simple thing to grasp yet so many people too stupid to understand that
