We have been saying that for a long time, he uses his possesions much better then Mark McGough and that is why he is a better player who should be in the side above Mark McGough

I bitched and bitched and bitched about Scots not playing and when given his long awaited chance he shines like the star he is. The way he uses the ball and the way he helps in defence proves why he will play finals and continue to play for the black and whites.Heath my lad you are a hero!

He could have had more if he had more time on the ground, Just a prediction is that he will either play 20 mins v Sydney and get 4 touches or have another blinder, Love ya Scotty.

Another 19 touches and 3 goals.

So the question has to be asked.
People on this board and other boards have been saying give Heath a go all year.
If we "mug punters" can see it why can't MM and the match committee.
People will say its because of 'Team Balance' I say crap. Would Bucks or Scotty be left out for team balance. If you are good enough you play.
Heath Scotland is a very good player and fits beautifully into the side. He can play midfield or go forward. His skills are exquisite.
So why has he been left out of the team for most of the year?

Who knows Murray? You're guess is as good as mine. I just put it down to either Scoots has been messing with Christie or Scoots has done something to Mick in a past life or Mick just doesn't like naturally skilled players?

MM said a while ago, when asked why Heath wasn't being played, that our midfiled was fine atm and there is just no room.

Heath is too good a player to leave hanging at Willi for a replacement should injury prevent someone from taking their spot. It is any wonder he wanted to be traded at the end of 2001. I hope he stays at the club, he is real class and in a few years Bux, Burnsy & Woey will be retiring and we will need others to step up and fill in, and Scoots could definately be one of those players imo.

I love the kid and I want him to stay, but I think I can see the problem.

Scotland is a good player but took independent decisions on the field. Malthouse organises his teams like a machine, and picks players that fit the machine. If you don't follow the plan you get benched or dropped. As opposed to picking 22 footballers letting them play= Blight theory.

Its hard to tell because we don't know the ins and outs of Malthouse's system, but I'd say Scotland plays a little bit instinctively and made too many independent choices. I saw a clip on channel ten a few weeks ago and Malthouse was really lecturing Scotland at the 3/4 time huddle. He wasn't baking him, it looked constructive but it was clear the boy was being pulled into line.

We know Malthouse rewards obedience above all else: Licuria won 2 Copelands ahead of Bucks and that wasn't because he was a more skillful or dedicated footballer. Its because he always follows the plan.

Hopefully Scotland follows the plan too. He has good skills, good brains, good guts and kicks both feet. He has a future in the centre square, hopefully with Collingwood.
