I am really surprised he was given a two year deal so early in the season. I honestly had him closer to trade/delist than I did a multi year deal just due to how tight our list spots are. In saying that he is a good little talent and should only improve from here on in with some continuity, we are crying out for one of these smalls to finally break out and it looks like Voss will give him every chance to do so when fit.

I suspect this is like O'Briens 2 year contract. Durds trades money for security. If he doesnt come on next year his contract is small enough for us to still cut him loose and pay him out.

He was playing some great footy a few years back as a developing 19yo - been hit with injuries and hasn't bounced back to that form yet. Looking forward to his little partner in crime Motlop returing to the side - they'll make each other better players when they form an exciting duo up forward.

He might get a 2nd chance from someone but I don't think he would be in high demand. In his 4th year and hasn't really done anything.

Anyway I wasn't comparing him to O'Brien. Just his contract in the sense that he's not worth 2 years on the surface but the 2nd year is likely at a cut rate so we can get out if we need to.

List spots are tighter then a few years back. We are going to be forced to cut some decent players. Gone are the days where we have 4-5 players a mile off afl standard ready to cull.
