Wright is night and day better than McMahon. When one on one he nearly always at least halves the contest, winning it reasonably often. Even 1 on 2 he frequently halves the contest, and if we had more support we might get more from those balls hitting the ground.I agree with your point but i can also direct that to some of our other more senior players one being Wright he played alright against North but prior to that was completely useless and he has been in the system for a longer time then McMahon
I would even direct it towards Langford so far this year while forward offers nothing while on the wing he was ok it still isnt up to a level expected from a senior leader player imo
Yeah his alot better then McMahon and as a second ruck his important to our structure but his first two games were really poor maybe i am being to harsh as even i can say our midfield kicking to our 50 is awlful but also alot of these guys arent selfish enough to make space or even lead at timesWright is night and day better than McMahon. He is our chop out ruck, and over the last few years I think has ranked around 3-4 in the league for the hit-out goals combination as relief ruck after Jackson (and someone I can't remember who is pretty good).
He gets the #1 KPD.
Langford has been terrible this year forward (I agree he was 'fine' on the wing last Saturday), but then Langford has struggled forward since Scott started playing him as a KP player and teams put good KPD on him. He shone when he was playing a medium role and he could outthink, outmark and outmove an opponent who wasn't KPD height.
I thought you had a bit more class than to just use a laughing emoji as a response. No, I disagree with this. When we had those players on the park, Gerreyn was playing forward in the VFL. i.e. early. His shift to defence came later in the season.
During that period forward, he showed that he had exquisite skills for a big man, and could do some really spectacular plays. However, he drifted in and out of games, with a lot more "drift out" than "drift in". He got shifted to defence after the MSD and I think his switch to defence reflected:
Generally, I think the move went well. Well enough I was calling for him to be given an AFL game in the back half of the season; albeit that was as much to get experience as deserving it. But he's certainly got more involved in games back there, and his disposal from the backline is a weapon. He still sometimes loses his man, but hell its the start of his second season after being drafted.
- Injuries to Ridley, McKay, Hayes and Reid. We'd just brought in May, McMahon and Blackiston. Blackiston went straight into the seniors in defence. May and McMahon gave more forward cover. So, Gerreyn was moved back, and was our only tall defender in the VFL. This gave us some cover there.
- Moving to defence meant he had to man a player, and I suspect they thought it would get him more involved over four quarters.
- I do not think it was seen as a permanent move. I hope it still isn't.
Overall, I think he is very promising. And contrary to ant555's position, I don't think he's at risk of delisting at all. He's miles ahead of May and McMahon in my book, and (due to injuries) Cox. That said, Cox and May definitely have time to improve (as does Gerreyn), but McMahon is a complete waste of a list spot IMO.
Cox is 100 percent done squibs almost every contested ball you can tell its had an impact with all his concussion issues he also looks like some of senior players in that his just going through the motions currentlyI thought you had a bit more class than to just use a laughing emoji as a response.
Opinions are opinions.
I will say you have not watched Cox at all recently. You and I have more chance of being on the list next year. He is 100% cooked.
List spots are tight. Gerryn is a guy that may need longer but we may not have the time.

Seeing Cox and Jones down the bottom of all vfl players is a bit concerning when they are playing for their careers, I guess Ridley too. Did he play a full match?
If Jones kicks straight and has 2 goals, maybe its a different story. Still not the out put you want.
Hard to tell due to the VFL camera work at times but he wasnt on the ground alot i think he didnt play a full gameView attachment 2567848

His a key position player a guy who mainly played ruck forward most of his juniors i think the club would of expected a long term approachTo me Gerreyn doesn’t look ready for seniors. Still a way off, but with Jones, Cox, McMahon taking up list spots I don’t think there is a lot of room for him unless he improves out of sight very quickly. I think it says something that he is the only player on the list that didn’t debut last year.

List spots are tight. Lots of players get delisted before they get time to be developed.List spots aren’t that tight or shouldn’t be given we know how long it takes talls to develop. (Roughly 5 seasons)
That time should be planned and allocated.
you’d move Hayes on before Gerryn if both aren’t ready and if one is then McKay is on the hot seat
No, I've seen the last intraclub, the practice match vs North, the Geelong game in Geelong, last weekend's online. Cox is absolutely struggling, and nowhere near it. I did list him as one of those at risk of being delisted.I thought you had a bit more class than to just use a laughing emoji as a response.

It is actually funny to say list sots are not tight. In general, across the AFL list spots are tight. That is why so many players only get 2 or 3 years to do anything. Yes, you can find a way to move 5 to 8 players but there are players who need longer that get squeezed out. It is why I hate the fact that players with 20 plus games of experience can be on rookie lists. No, I've seen the last intraclub, the practice match vs North, the Geelong game in Geelong, last weekend's online. But, it is a long season and I'd say we're not tight at all on list spots. Heaps of players I could easily get rid of. Off the top of my head I'd expect Merrett, Guelfi, McMahon, Setterfield and Gresham to go, opening up four list spots. Cox would definitely be in the next group at risk though.
Um, what's wrong with reacting with a laugh at a post? I honestly think the idea of Gerreyn being delisted is pretty funny.

As for Gerryn I could be wrong you could be right, but it is hardly funny. Funny was predicating Munkura would stay on the list. But hey opinions are opinions. In football land you do well to get 60% of them right.
why are you expecting merrett to go? didn't we just make a massive song and dance about holding him to his contract?I'd expect Merrett, Guelfi, McMahon, Setterfield and Gresham to go, opening up four list spots.
Because if he asks again, then the club will realise he'll want to leave next year when we'll get almost nothing. So, they'll capitulate. And in the hope that him leaving will harmonise the playing room and improve results.why are you expecting merrett to go? didn't we just make a massive song and dance about holding him to his contract?
He's also better than Merrett.Petracca tried to leave in 2024. Went nowhere, Melbourne got offered cents on the dollar. A year later, bidding war opened up and they got a deal reflective of his worth.
Adelaide and like 1 late firstHe's also better than Merrett.
Also what did they get offered end of 2024? I can't remember who they were negotiating with.
It’s the professional version of the Encouragement Award.Named on an extended bench, but does anyone expect him to play? We would need him forward/ruck, not back, and he hasn't been playing forward since last year.
That is his defensive issue. Too much leg rope given to his opponent due to him tracking the football.Actually quite liked his game down back on Sunday. I think there is something to work with, and if he can iron out a couple of his flaws (got beat out the back a couple times, almost seemed as though he got caught ball watching) I could see him debuting this year.
