Welcome to Essendon, Kobe Mutch!

Thanks to don patch sword for this:

Team: Bendigo Pioneers
Height: 187 Weight: 84
DOB: 18/3/98

TAC Games: 4
AVG Disposals: 34.7
Goals: 0

Player Traits: Sam Gibson, Matt Priddis
Position: Midfield

Bio: Kobe is a ball magnet he knows how to win the footy in any situation. Injury has held him back but has done enough to be considered in the first and second rounds of the draft, He is an academy player for GWS but i cant see him being taken by them and i could see a lot of suitors in the 2nd Round.

Kobe is clean with his hands and can kick on either side of his body. He shows great composure with ball in hand and generally picks the right option. He is very consistent and there hasn't been any games that he couldn't win a large amount of the footy.

He is a willing tackler and works hard on the inside but will also provide a lot of unrewarded run, he just keeps going to try and win the footy. He works hard all over the ground and will win his possessions all over the ground.

His speed is ok but could be better. He isn't very damaging with his disposal it can be rather standard. He is also not a big threat forward and hasn't shown much versatility in his game.

Mutch is a safe pick. Does so many things right and any team wanting to improve their midfield depth will find no one better at this point in the draft.

Freak accumulator with a nice balance of inside/outside. Can kick of both feet, but will have to work on his hurt factor in order to not be another NO'B. Good that we actually picked a midfielder however.

Consistency of performance is a trait many under-age footballers sometimes struggle to find, but Bendigo Pioneers midfielder Kobe Mutch had no such problems in 2016.

The 187cm Gol Gol, NSW product is a member of the GWS Academy and represented the AFL Academy in exhibition games, Bendigo in the TAC Cup and NSW/ACT Rams and Allies representative teams at various times during the year, but rarely dropped his level of hard-nosed play.

Mutch averaged 34 disposals and seven marks per game in four TAC Cup home-and-away matches and also earned selection on the interchange in the U18 All Australian team after averaging 22 disposals per game in four matches for the Allies in Division 1 of the NAB AFL U18 Championships.

The Bomber picked Kobe Mutch with pick 42.

Gol Gol/Bendigo Pioneers (New South Wales) 18/3/1998 Height: 186cm Weight: 84kg

Mutch stamped himself as one of the most improved players in 2016's draft pool with a consistent display at the division two under-18s national carnival, where he averaged 25 disposals across three games. The teenager's best traits are his work rate - he is an elite endurance athlete - and his ability to kick on both feet. His dual-sided skills allow him to spin out of stoppages and hit targets with a minimum of fuss, and he collects plenty of the ball.

AFL National and International Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan says:

Prolific ball winning midfielder for NSW/ACT and then for the Allies in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, earning All-Australian honours. Skillful on his right and left sides and has footy smarts and courage. Member of the NAB AFL Academy.

Former AFL recruiter Gary Buckenara says:

A mid-sized midfielder, Much wins his own ball. He has a good work rate and knows how to find the footy and win it. He’s also got good skills, so he’s one of those elite kicking type players who are very important. He’ll be high on club radars.
