Lasted two weeks after coming back from a long term injury:

The news isn’t so bright for young Bomber Kobe Mutch, whose poor luck on the injury front continued in the VFL side’s defeat of Coburg on Sunday.

“Kobe got a knock to his knee cap, which meant he was unable to complete the game,” Crow said.

“We had that scanned and he has a fracture in that knee cap, so unfortunately for Kobe he will need some time on the sidelines to get that better.

“We’ll seek specialist advice on the best way forward. At this stage it looks unlikely to need surgery, but it will possibly mean an extended stint away from playing.”

Yikes. I actually had a cracked knee cap when I was younger. Freak accident where Dad ran over a golf ball with the lawn mower and hit me fair and square in the knee cap. Had a full leg cast for 6 weeks and literally had to carry around a chop stick or ruler with me at all times to alleviate the itching. Not fun.

Safe to say I was happy it wasn't a foot higher and a little bit to the right...

Looks like the same treatment prescribed for Mutch.

Crow said emerging onballer Kobe Mutch will not require surgery on his fractured knee cap, but his possible return date is yet to be confirmed.

“He’ll go in a splint for around a month and then build back up from there.

“The time frame is still a little bit uncertain. We’ll see how he goes after this time with the knee splinted.”

Add a few extra weeks of physio to regain movement, then a couple more to regain lost muscle due to atrophy, I'd say he'd be doing very well to play again this year :(

He'll have a really hairy leg too.

Bloke is almost delist worthy is also injury prone
er.

19 VFL games in 2017
3 AFL and 12 VFL games in 2018
1 AFL and 6 VFL games in 2019

Have you ever known a club to delist a player because he's missed half a season of football? If they delisted him I doubt one high grade hamstring injury and a freak accident that fractured his knee cap would be the reason for it.

So he's played 4 AFL games since he's been drafted and in those 4 games he showed very little.

I hope I'm wrong but don't think he'll make it imo and it has nothing to do with him being injured as the reason why think he should be delisted.

I reckon he's still a fair chance to make the AFL grade personally. He's only in his 3rd year and was desperately unlucky with the injuries he's had this year, especially as the first one occurred right when he was playing his first AFL game of the year. He reminds me a fair bit of Heppell as a wingman (although he's not as slow as Heppell but nor does he win as much ball) but he's a very good runner, pretty decent overhead, has good size and for an outside player can win good amounts of inside ball.

Talk of delisting seems way premature. If we can afford to keep blokes like Long on the list for as long we have I'm sure we can afford to give him at least another year.

Injuries aside, what's holding him back?

He's having a horrendous run.

Can at least take heart from the fact he's rated internally (given he gets games quite regularly all things considered).

Unfortunately for him, it feels like he's falling a long way down the hierarchy.

Best bet would to Delist and place him on the rookie list. Pretty sure he was Pick 42 a few years ago Through the GWS academy?

Something tells me the club is ready to move on from him. Ham has probably passed him, trialling Ridley on a wing in the VFL, Jok has probably passed him too

Think he’ll get another year, thought he’d shown plenty as a 2nd year player and has just had a poor run this year.

Likely would have played a few games if he’d been fit at almost any point this season.

We need outside runners and Ridley looks to have struggled at the wing role in the VFL so it really just leaves Ham and Zaharakis who can play that role outside of Mutch.

He seems Stanton-esque to me, solid across the board without being exceptional at any one area.

Suffering from being a bit plain. I think a fancy headband could give him the zing required to really shine.

In all seriousness there is no way he will be delisted. Pre injury they would have seen him playing 12 games this year.

It's also a role you can draft fairly easily. If he doesn't show something at senior level next year he could be cut as harsh as that sounds, even though he was okay in the seniors last year.
