I’ve watched a lot of early 80s Essendon on YT and he was electric. Not just a goalsneak but also capable of large disposal numbers and a tough little nugget too. I’d have thought he’d have been perfect in that 84 GF. Not trying to belittle Frankie Dunnell, but gee, his spot was there for the taking I reckon. Budgie had 25 touches in the lost 83 GF and had 23 touches in the 84 prelim.

Was only 8 at the time but remember being disappointed but not surprised budgie crossed over to the dogs in 85. He’d put up a decent year too & thought he & the dogs would’ve given us fits had they have beaten the Hawks in the prelim.
