thoughts on match ups?

If they match-up like that, I can see us winning easily. Harry-Riewoldt is the only really worrying match up for mine, but then again Harry curtailed him last time, so there's no reason he can't do it again.

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus Adelaide (the type of game we usually lose)

Our weakness is in the ruck. Mark Blake would get chopped up by Stephen King.

The Footy Gods have spoken, and have granted Blake the chance to twist the knife into an old cats back. All the demons fought behind the sunnies, the hard-yakka in pre-season, the step-by-step, game-by-game progression throughout the year - Blake's time has finally come. With three games to go, there will be greatness from the young man. Geelong expects no less....

Re: Feckin Bullshit.

Geez what's that smell .... is it .... could it be ........FEAR!!!!!!!!

How could you possibly misinterpret the opening post as fear? Unless you were meaning the fear of not facing any competition for two weeks straight, in which case you'd be spot on.

Re: Good Luck Catters

The Aints should consider a new club song.

Is you is or aint you aint - a football team.

Re: Good Luck Catters

Arrogance?

Exactly. Only arrogance I can detect in this thread is from a supporter of a team who snuck into 4th spot by way of their major rivals falling at the last hurdle saying good luck to supporters of a team who has won their last 15 games straight by an average margin of 9 goals.

Fair enough if the Aints beat a decent team by 104 points to finish 4th, but in all seriousness, you only played the Bendigo Bombers today.

Re: Feckin Bullshit.

As Winty said.. If you actually read my post, its rather the opposite.

I can firmly understand when Bay 13 trolls say (They will, they have nothing else) that Geelong won the premiership in a weak year this year.... it can't be a strong competition if Saint Kilda make the top 4.

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus St Kilda (the type of game we usually lose)

That proves in a nut shell that you know zero about football...you honestly think Mooney is more mentally tough than Riewoldt

Nick Riewoldt is a soft AFL footballer. He reminds me of Barry Stoneham and Matthew Richardson. Tough key position players like Brereton, Carey, Mooney, Matthew Robran and Brown from Brisbane have the ability to play hard at the football. They have the football smarts to outsmart their opponent etc.

I know more about football than you!!

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus St Kilda (the type of game we usually lose)

I am usually not a confident person when it comes to Finals. Last year I was so incredibly pessimistic and was sure North would beat us. But this time around, its just... how could Saintys beta us? if we play at what we are capable of, I cant see them even having a shot. our midfield will tear them to absolute pieces.

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus St Kilda (the type of game we usually lose)

ahh its like we're on repeat

because the more arrogant the 'supporters' are the greater chance we have of losing hay..

*yawn*

fellas, when your team loses but one game in the home and away season, are coming off a 119 point victory in the previous premiership you tend to gain a great deal of confidence in your footballing's team ability.

I'd be concerned if the players started showing arrogance, but when a coach comes out and says hes going to make sure he gives a side like the eagles their hardest game when it does nothing to geelongs prospect but put risk on players...arrogance is the least of our problems.

keep clutching at straws if it makes you feel better, geelong are the benchmark purely and simply and that's a fact and something that every supporter will take solace in.

CARN CATTERS!

We're all avoiding the key issue here.

Who is going to take the role of abusing Dal Santo Gal this time?

I do that every game against the Aints.....they have so many w@nkers in that team there is just too much material

Dal Santo, Milne, Montagna, Kosi, Reiwoldt etc etc

Close but it's more of a "if you know it" joke. :)

Good work though.

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus St Kilda (the type of game we usually lose)

Hope the Cats smash the saints next week , Heard Grant Thomas on radio say he thinks they can beat Geelong , what a load of rubbish.
Geelong are the best going around and hopefully will prove that.

Go Cats....

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus St Kilda (the type of game we usually lose)

Riewoldt is a very good footballer...he would even be a smoky for the brownlow this year and he is an outstanding captain for the 'Aints. I am not sure where the criticism comes from.

The key of course to St Kilda is shutting him down. IN the past he has played allright without being sensational. From memory i think Harley started on him last game, then Taylor after that. Wouldn't imagine Scarlett would go to him straight away and would only be moved onto him in the event he starts to cut us up.

If we can make Riewoldt ineffecitve then we pretty much have the game under control - can't see too many match ups that the saints will even get close to winning. However nothing is a certainity and it will depend on our ability to play the football we know we are capable of.

Will be a good crowd and good warm up at the G' for what should become another GF!!

Go Cats

lolol check Riewoldt's great grab circa 2004 for proof of how hard he is at the footy. You sir, are an idiot.

Re: 1st Qualifying Final versus Adelaide (the type of game we usually lose)

There is one reason why I picked Varcoe over Prisnall. Varcoe places an enormous amount of defensive pressure in the forward line.

I would seriously drop Josh Hunt to keep Prisnall in the side.

Max Rooke has to come into the side to give us the 2nd tagging option.

If Harry Taylor stays in the side, I would play Taylor on Charlie Gardiner; Milburn on the overrated soft Nick Riewoldt and Scarlo to get the Saint's full forward.

Our weakness is in the ruck. Mark Blake would get chopped up by Stephen King.

An SOS should be sent to Sam Newman or Damian Bourke to tutor Mark Blake on the finer points of ruckwork.

As I have written on numerous occasions, Brad Ottens makes us into a direct football side. When Blake is in the ruck, we really struggle. Mark Blake cannot grab the game by the scruff of the neck at this stage of his career.

THE GOVERNOR

bald headed Gazza to do a knee in first quarter i'm predicting.:D

No-one in your team has half the courage of Reiwoldt mate. Go sainters

Check out his insane mark at the SCG a few years ago pal. It was the most courageous mark the game has ever seen.

You know shit about football mate and your cats supporters hear will back that up. you just dont like him cause he's a Champion. He worries you.:D

Hope Max Rooke runs through him, and then Scarlett/Milburn rough him up.

Might bring back tears for Saint Nicole.
