Pick 1:
Melbourne: Tom Scully
The best player in the draft and has been put here since day 1. Good kick shrugs tackles and gets a lot of it. Very much like Judd.

Pick 2:
Melbourne: Jack Trengove:
He is up there with Scully, very skilled and shrugs tackles. Butcher was a certainty to go here earlier in the year but how things have changed.

Pick 3:

Richmond: Dustin Martin
Great draft camp and great championships was expected to go to North, but his stocks have risen massively. Described as a Simon Black.

Picks 4:
Fremantle: Anthony Morabito
Super player and likened to an Adam Goodes no doubt he would have gone to Richmond or Melbourne if he was Victorian but as a WA man the Dockers will take him.

Pick 5:
North Melbourne: Ben Cunnington
Very skilled inside midfielder. Imagine in 4-5 years time if North draft him, they will have Ziebell, Swallow and Cunnington they would be the clearance kings dishing it out to Anthony and Wells. Butcher could also go here but i think Cunnington is the sort of player Scott would want. Hoping Robbie Tarrant will get on the park.

Pick 6:
Sydney: John Butcher
Sydney would be stoked he was dropped a heap and earlier in the year was expected to got top 2. Once he gets his kicking and fitness right he will be a monster. Great addition to Sydney but next year would be looking for some quality midfielders.

Picks 7:
West Coast: Kane Lucas
Taking another WA boy and will be very happy he is highly skilled and can play midfield and forward. Good addition to the team hoping to build another great midfield with Masten and Priddis.

Pick 8:
Port Adelaide: Luke Tapscott
A super kick that comes from Adelaide so their is not go home factor just like Panos. Will fit well into the midfield and in a few years you will hear Tapscott to Panos.

Pick 9:

Port Adelaide: Gary Rohan
To good to pass on he won the kicking test and is a super quick ranga. Port would have like Panos but Rohan is good but must be consistent. Port would be stoked he has fallen this far and he is a match winner.

Pick 10:
Essendon: Koby Stevens
Need another gun mid to go with Watson and Stanton. Stevens is a very good inside mid who should help with clearances a heap. Good fit fort he bombers who need mids.

Pick 11:
Melbourne: Matthew Panos
Need a good key forward to go with Watts. They would have hoped that Butcher could slide, but Panos is not to far behind Butcher and should fit in well. After drafting mids with first 2 picks.

Pick 12:

Carlton: Daniel Talia
Need Key Forwards and Backs, he was named as CHB in AA U/18's so would be a good fit. They could push Waite forward and playing him down back to fill the gap that Fev left.

Pick 13:
Adelaide: Brad Sheppard
No real needs have a great forward line and good backline but backline is getting old so may as well improve it with a good halfback/midfielder in Brad Sheppard.

Pick 14:

Sydney: Jordan Gysberts
Taking Butcher with Pick 6 they will be looking for a midfielder so Gysberts will go here. Syndey would not play him to go this early but they need a mid so he is their man.

Pick 15:
Western Bulldogs: Ben Griffiths
Barry Hall will only last 2 years and when he is gone Griffiths would have matured and would make a big target up forward. With dogs midfield and backline stong a young gun forward is what they need.

Pick 16:
Port Adelaide: Aaron Black
Again took 2 mids with their first choice so they will go a key forward with Tredrea ageing and Westoff now showing much so Black will be a great addition even though he is from WA they should feel safe with him. Will get great service from Tapscott and Rohan.

Pick 17:
Geelong: Nathan Vardy
No real need here but having traded Mumford they will need a new ruckman so Vardy is there man. He is the best ruckman in the draft and he a great tap ruckman.

1. Melbourne- Scully.
Easy choice here can't see that changing.
2. Melbourne- Trengove.
Might play with the idea of go for Martin but I doubt it, can't see Butcher here either.
3. Richmond- Martin.
All the talk is Dustin but I think Butcher might come into play also.
4. Fremantle- Morabito.
Local boy if he is available can't see this not happening.
5. North Melbourne- Cunnington
Another team that might have a serious look at Butcher, but I think there need for a key forward is equal with a midfielder, and they might rate Cunnington higher. Even though if it wasn't the case it would work much better for the bombers.
6. Sydney Swans- Rohan
Some will have Butcher here but with Johnston, White & maybe Grundy think they are fine, instead adding some speed and X-Factor to their team.
7. West Coast- Lucas
Lewis Jetta the other alternative but Lucas would be too good to pass up on adding a outside silky quick and skilled mid to their growing list of mids mainly who are insiders.
8. Port Adelaide- Butcher
Butcher slides to pick 8, Port needs key forward badly and Butcher deserves to go around this region.
9. Port Adelaide- Tapscott
Ports 2nd pick they go for midfield adding some local home grown talent, who has an awesome kick and adds some toughness.
10. Essendon- Melksham
Bombers simple go next best available mid, that happens to be Jake will fill the role of inside/outside mid which the club has targeted.
11. Melbourne- Talia
After getting two mids, go for a tall, with the hope of playing him as a forward.
12. Carlton- Griffiths
Add another young tall forward, after losing fev.
13. Adelaide- L.Jetta
Add some real pace around the packs or up forward, only problem here is how comfortable is he leaving WA.
14. Sydney Swans- Stevens
They got some x factor with Rohan now add a inside mid who plays that sydney style so well.
15. Western Bulldogs- Sheppard
Was really unsure what the dogs need, with enough developing forwards and now B.Hall thought they would fix some other areas, Sheppard is a quick, half back or midfielder.
16. Port Adelaide- Vardy
Ports other need is a ruck men, Vardy fits this nicely.
17. Geelong- Christiansen
Local boy.

Who's left;
Talls: Panos, A.Black, Fitzpatrick, Carlisle
Smalls: Bastanic, J.Gysberts, Duncan, Moore, Colyer, A.Carey, Crichton, Harwood & T.Taylor
i think yours is possibly the nearest to my way of thinking !!

For Geelong surely it also depends on the view on their 2 All Australian key defenders who have long term injuries. If they project to come back then they are far less in need of backs.

2?

Egan (Who everyone knows isn't coming back) and ??

(Maybe I am just having a blonde moment and forgetting someone so glaringly obvious :o )

1. Scully

2. Trengrove

3. Martin

4. Morabito

5. Butcher

6. Cunington

7. Jetta

8. Vardy

9. Rohan

10. Sheppard

11. Tapscott

12. Lucas

13. Talia

14. Stevens

15. Melksham

16. Christensen

17. Taylor

I think that Rohan could possibly go to North. He is rated very highly and provides great X-Factor, Why would they want another midfielder after drafting 3 or 4 last year???

when darren crocker was fill-in coach, he said that they were one top-notch mid prospect from finishing that part of the rebuild. Scott may have different idea's, but i suspect they'll take the best midfielder they can find.

Be funny if we did draft Melksham considering we will be drafting his mates wallis and libba next year. dogs future midfield could be the calder cannons current midfield.

However, because we ARE drafting wallis and libba next year, would rather us pursue a chf/chb type, or mercurial forward.

Tried to change it up a bit, but couldn't go past the top 5, I think they are pretty much set.

1. Melbourne - Jack Trengrove
doesn't matter, as Melbourne are going to take him and Scully.

2. Melbourne - Tom Scully
Melbourne wants the best 2, and Scully is either 1 or 2

3. Richmond - Dustin Martin
Need a quality midfielder with some skills to support Deledio

4. Fremantle - Anthony Morabito
W.A. boy, and a gun!! Also at 1.90cm, could be damaging around the ground.

5. North Melbourne - Ben Cunnington.
Loves going hard at the ball, will suit Scott and Nth Melb

6. Sydney Swans - Kane Lucas
Are going to rely on White, and try to get a replacement for their ageing midfielders.

7. West Coast - Gary Rohan
Next best player, bit of a surprise to be taken at 7

8. Port Adelaide - John Butcher.
Need a Key forward, take the best available!

9. Port Adelaide - Luke Tapscott
Quality Midfielder, whom I would love to see at Essendon, but I just cant see him slipping past Port Adelaide

10. Essendon - Koby Stevens.
Next best midfielder.....that's about it.

11. Melbourne - Matthew Panos.
Want to have a dual pronged attack with Watts and Panos.

12. Carlton - Aaron Black. Tested well, and the Blues need to replace Fev, Cloke is not a suitable replacement.

13. Adelaide - Lewis Jetta. Bit of a roughy, bit closer to home, and McLeod has a lot to do with indigenous players, could make him feel comfortable.

14. Sydney Swans - Daniel Talia. I just think he is a solid defender, and Sydney would be happy to take him.

15. Western Bulldogs - Brad Sheppard. Again just quality, will fit in nicely at the Doggies playing out of the backline (Like him better as a backman than a midfielder)

16. Port Adelaide - Roland Ah Chee. I think he is a bit underrated, and could surprise people. Knows how to find the ball.

17. Geelong - Mitch Duncan. Good midfielder who could develop into something special.

There were a few who were a bit unlucky to miss the 1st round, Christiansen, Melksham, and Griffiths. But some like Vardy and Gysberts I don't rate as highly as the rest.

My Opinion has slightly changed in the past few days so I'll give it another crack.

1. Melbourne - Tom Scully
2. Melbourne - Dustin Martin- Melbourne need a good, penetrating kick and they have come to the right place in Martin. I rate him higher than trengove.
3. Richmond - Jack Trengove
4. Fremantle - Anthony Morabito
5. North Melbourne - Gary Rohan- In my opinion, he is almost a certainty here. Rated extremely high yet has somewhat of a bad name on big footy.
6. Sydney Swans - Ben Gunnington- Falls to the swans pick and he is the man i reckon the swans want in red and white
7. West Coast - Kane Lucas- No surprises here
8. Port Adelaide - John Butcher.
9. Port Adelaide - Allen Christenson- I can see Port going for some real pace here after the loss of burgoyne
10. Essendon - Melksham-Heavily underrated on Big footy...
11. Melbourne - Griffiths- I don't particularly rate Panos and i think Griffiths is a better fit for the d's
12. Carlton - Luke Tapscott
13. Adelaide - Koby Stevens
14. Sydney Swans - Daniel Talia.
15. Western Bulldogs -Brad Sheppard
16. Port Adelaide - Lewis Jetta
17. Geelong - Aaron Black

1. Scully

2. Trengrove

3. Martin

4. Morabito

5. Butcher

6. Cunington

7. Jetta

8. Vardy

9. Rohan

10. Sheppard

11. Tapscott

12. Lucas

13. Talia

14. Stevens

15. Melksham

16. Christensen

17. Taylor

Why would the Crows take Talia if players like Stevens, Melksham and Gysberts were still available? We loaded up on KPP last year with Davis, McKernan, Young and Lee, and still have Bock, Rutten and Stevens down back all 26-28. Can't see us going tall first round

Spot on!
You guys will definitely take the best available midfielder. My tip is Koby Stevens but i reckon that he may not be available if he's taken by Essendon so you guys will look at Christenson or Jetta if he is still available :thumbsu:

Like the look of Christensen, can always do with some more pace in our midfield, maybe a bit small though. Really hoping Stevens or Jetta are available.

*bump* Just for splendini

1. Melbourne - Jackson Trengove

2. Melbourne - Tom Scully: Scully's hands are too small for him to be a pick one..

3. Richmond - Dustin Martin

4. Fremantle - Anthony Morabito

5. North Melbourne - Ben Cunnington

6. Sydney Swans - Gary Rohan

7. West Coast - Lewis Jetta

8. Port Adelaide - John Butcher

9. Port Adelaide - Jake Melksham

A midfield with Boak, Melksham, Pearce and Hartlett is silky and quick.

Melksham's disposal on both sides of the body plus his pace, agility and beep test puts him above Tapscott who is a manchild.

Suits Port's style of play and reminds me of Luke Power.

10. Essendon - Daniel Talia

Essendon reportedly had the papers filled in for Trengove last year, but missed out by one pick. Yet they picked Still with their next pick, so they might still go for a mid.

Their midfield is crying out for a player like Melksham.

11. Melbourne - Jake Carlisle

The Demons have the backs, but need another big forward to complement Watts and the rangy Jurrah after picking Trengove and Scully.

The Demons could pick the athletic Talia with Rivers injury prone.

Carlisle is still growing into his body and has more upside.

12. Carlton - Luke Tapscott

Carlton needs another kicker and goal scorer after losing Stevens.

Adds much needed grunt.

I considered Brad Sheppard, but the pacy and dual sided Russell really came on in the second half of the year as an attacking defender. Joseph, Armfield, Grigg and Walker can play as sweepers with their pace and run. Gibbs, Judd, Tapscott, Murphy, Simpson, O'keeffe, Yarran, etc. will load up Henderson and Kreuzer with lace out kicks for the next five to ten years.

13. Adelaide - Kane Lucas

Lucas could be a Crowbot with his alround athleticism and some question marks on his disposal.

Adelaide would be the club to get the best out of him.

Considered Stevens, but Lucas appears to be a superior athlete and a similar type to Vince, McKay, Van Berlo, Dangerfield, etc.

14. Sydney Swans - Koby Stevens

The pacy Rohan and an inside midfielder like Stevens could make it a good draft for the Swans. I considered Brad Sheppard because they've already picked up Kennedy and McGlynn.

They could do with more pace.

15. Western Bulldogs - Brad Sheppard

Brad Sheppard's pace and disposal would suit the Dogs' attacking run and gun style.

A replacement for Akermanis or Eagleton down the track with the offspring of Liberatore and Wallis on the horizon as midfielders.

16. Port Adelaide - Aaron Black

Butcher being their main forward with Gray, Ebert, Westhoff and Black would be the building blocks for their next forwardline.

Port love their ex-basketballers.

17. Geelong - Andrew Moore.

Is Moore a Geelong special with their love for 189 cms types who can play as utilities?

Rooke, Enright, Ling, Mackie, etc.

18. Melbourne - Nathan Vardy

The Demons get a ruckman/resting KPF after picking up two midfielders and a KPF.

Here is my 1st Round then mate:

1: Dees - Scully
2: Dees - Trengove
3: Tigers - Cunnington
4: Dockers - Lucas
5: Roos - Rohan
6: Swans - Cunnington
7: Eagles - Morabito
8: Power - Stevens
9: Power - Martin
10: Bombers - Jetta
11: Demons - Butcher
12: Blues - Carlise
13: Crows - Tapscott
14: Swans - Talia
15: Bulldogs - Melksham
16: Saints - Gysberts
17: Cats - Vardy.

Your Thoughts on that?

1. Melbourne - Tom Scully - All class
2. Melbourne - Jack Trengove - As above
3. Richmond - Dustin Martin - A class footballer who tested well

4. Fremantle - Anthony Morabito - Could end up being the dux of his class. Q's over his kicking.
5. North Melbourne - Ben Cunnington - Tough, hard at it and pure north.
6. Sydney Swans - Luke Tapscott - Booming kick. He will be very damaging coming from behind the ball delivering it long into the swans forward 50m.
7. West Coast - Lewis Jetta - That crumming small that they desire

8. Port Adelaide - Aaron Black - Bit of a surprise he tested well and with the 3rd best kicking effeciency at the draft he could prove a master stroke!
9. Port Adelaide - Kane Lucas - Next best mid. Probably could have gone much higher

10. Essendon - Gary Rohan - Will be a real injection of pace into the bombers midfield.
11. Melbourne - John Butcher - 12 moths ago was a lock in the top 3, but with question marks over his kicking and below par form all year he has slide significantly.

12. Carlton - Daniel Talia - the best KPD in the draft. With Henderson up forward and Talia down black the Blues look they could have the core of an exceptional spine!
13. Adelaide - Koby Stevens - Next best mid hard at it will be some good solid grunt for the young crows.
14. Sydney Swans - Brad Sheppard - Pace and class a dashing defender. Swans will be very happy with Tapscott and now Sheppard
15. Western Bulldogs - Jake Melksham - a mid who can both inside and outside roles, will suit the doggies style of play.
16. Port Adelaide - Allen Christenson - Thought about Duncan but the pace of Christenson mixed with the class of Lucas and Boak will see a very strong core midfield for the power.

17. Geelong - Nathan Vardy - Best ruckman in it. Blake doesn't look up to it and have lost Mummy.

1. Melbourne - Tom Scully - Inside machine, best prospect of the draft
2. Melbourne - Jack Trengrove - 2nd best player in the draft
3. Richmond - Dustin Martin - Quality mid with silky skills on both sides
4. Fremantle - Anthony Morabito - Peel Thunder local, will slot in next to Pav very nicely
5. North Melbourne - Garry Rohan - Gun quick, with silky skills. Will give North its x-factor
6. Sydney - Ben Cunnington - ready made replacement for Kirky when he retires, best prospect also which is handy.
7. West Coast - Troy Taylor - Bolter of the pack, big x factor about him amd will help release lecrass.
8. Port Adelaide - John Butcher - Best KPF prospect in the draft, preparing for life without Warren.
9. Port Adelaide - Luke Tapscott - huge penetrating kick and hard at the contested footy, local lad too which always helps
10. Essendon - Kane Lucas - Speedy outside mid, great quality replacement for lovett.
11. Melbourne - Aaron Black - KPF too help setup a potentially devestating forward combo with Watts.
12. Carlton - Daniel Talia - Quality KPP who can play both ends, probably suited better to CHB helping to free up Waite.
13 Adelaide - Bradley Sheppard - Dashing Hbf who will slot in nicely behind Goodwin and Mcleod when their days are over.
14. Sydney - Jake Carlile - Next best tall and will be great value learning his trade from Bradshaw.
15. Western Bulldogs - Koby Stevens - Next best player in the draft and a quality mid to boot.
16. Port Adelaide - Jake Melksham - Another quality mid who will help compliment their young midfield.
17. Geelong - Lewis Jetta - A player that can come in and have an immediate impact to help the cats push for their 3rd flag in 4 years.
