Well I'm on my own but that side doesn't worry me too much, and the main problem I do have with it I had with the side from last week too.

Primus v White - If Primus is to be played as a forward unless something goes wrong in the ruck, fair enough, there isn't much difference, Whitey has to produce more than he has been. Although I'm not sure this spot for a tall was needed at all when we already have Grew, Chad, Tredders and the resting ruckman we can use as talls.
Francou v Salopek - There's others I would've dropped before Salopek but I would've picked Francou
Pickett - He's been terrible this year, didn't deserve to get his spot back last time, hopefully he's made to earn it this time.

Choco was never ever gonna leave his Captain and Francou out of the side when fit.

Re: No Choppy

My oh my, can someone tell the selection committee that we do not get priority picks if we miss the 8 so no need to tank the game.

Initial reaction is can I barrack for freo this weekend and it makes me feel like missing another game.

My blood pressure has just gone through the roof.

OK now to return to the world of logic.

There is no way in the world that Primus will play so White come back in.
Peter Burgoyne can not be played as we can't go into this game with unfit players so Salopek comes back in.

Now that the world has returned to its natural order I am again confident that we will win.

all you people that bag these two have got no idea. its as if salopek and white were going to win us the game. they barely play and have little to no impact. if they want to leave the club at the end of the year for more oppourtunity than ******** em, go, good luck to ya. white is crap. how many goals has he scored this year? has had plenty of game time an shown not much, only a little in the past couple weeks. the mattress is a legend you people got no idea about the amount of hard work he done on the track to get back playing. same goes with josh for that matter. they deserve a spot more than white and salopek.

if the reason we lose in saturday nights game is because of white and salopek not playing than the club is stuffed and should go back to the sanfl.

Yes you are right but Primus has not been fit at any stage this year, by half way through the third quarter he can't move which means his opponent has been able to sweat off of him and double team tredders.

Christ two changes and everybody is throwing the dam towel in!! Great people, keep it up and you will just will us to lose the game. Trust me, of all people that so badly want us to win this match, its me, not only for our finals chance, but because of what we have put up with all year after Round 1. And I like the side, it looks good.

Going now, before I say something I will regret.

I haven't thrown the towel in, I just can't understand the selection of Primus. White hasn't set the world on fire but he's continually dragged a tall defender away from goals and cleared the forward 50 for Tredrea. He's presented continually upfield and taken marks to set the runners up to send the ball into the F50. Primus cannot do that. He will stand next to Tredders and drag a 2nd tall defender onto his shoulder. And if Grew doesn't get much of the ball - like last week - the two ruckmen will be up there next to Tredrea dragging 3 tall defenders onto him.

Salopek I'm sorry to see dropped, I thought he looked better with each outing. But I suspect he's gone now anyway. I just hope we don't lose him for nothing thru the PSD.

IMO Primus is the captain, and he should be here next year. However atm he adds nothing to our team.
He gets a lot of hit-outs, BUT the team as a whole gets no more than it usually does without him. I would also like to know how well we get it out of the centre when he plays as compared to when he doesn't.

White while not having set the world on fire adds to the team and adds to Tredrea who is our best player. Primus does not at this stage.
Sal was good and should have been given another chance. Francou has not been good. Again IMO he will be good next year, but has not been good this year. Quite the opposite.

A lot here are saying Williams is too much of a matey person. He certainly gives the impression that his team selection is based on mateship more than anything else more often than not.
Also agree with what Macca 19 said.

We should win this week, but if we are going to give ourselves a chance to win the premiership we must play the kids that have shown something over older unfit players who have shown bugger all this year. The younger one’s enthusiasm seems to lift the other players around them. Whenever we have played too many older unfit players at once, the whole team seems to become lethargic.

Russian, I am with you. Although I am a little disappointed that Salopek has been dropped for Francou I don't think we will lose anything with Primus replacing White. Damon has been disappointing particularly with his marking. Lade and Brogan will share the rucking between them and I suspect Primus will play at the goalfront and ruck in the forward 50.

If they needed to bring Francou in, I would have dropped Pettigrew. I know he has done well but he is basically a utility at this stage where as Salopek is a genuine midfielder.

White 5.3 marks per game Primus_ 2.9
White 6.5 kicks per game Primus_ 5.0

Primus gets a lot of hit outs, but the team as a whole doesn't get any more than it usually does anyway. Cannot see what replacing White with Primus adds to the team on this year's form.

thanks for giving us Whitey, we need him for Centrals as we have no Hargy or Roe

Primus and Francou were included in the team because they missed the finals and flag last year so Choco is giving them the chance this year.... Freo are a fair chance of winning this game now i reckon

PAF, statistics can be misleading. Primus's stats are as a ruckman and can't be compared with supposedly a marking forward. Primus is a reasonable mark, a reliable kick and would be a far more difficult key forward to contain than White. I am in no way saying that he should play in the ruck ahead of Brogan and Lade - just ruck in the forward 50.

Primus coming in I can handle, but Francou coming in is a mistake IMO. He has produced on only a few occasions this year. It's too much of a risk. Salopek was doing better than Francou has in most of his games.

That's a bit harsh finbar - you need to go back and watch a few games that Primus has played in. He is certainly no Dew but he is a very accurate kick over 50 metres.

Maybe not marks, but certainly possessions. Being in ruck doesn't stop Lade and Brogan getting the ball.

I'd agree with you before this year, Mitch, he's been less reliable this season. Having said that Whitey's kicking for goal has not been good. You expect a full forward to kick 3 or 4 on a regular basis. What's the most goals Damon has kicked, 2?

I'm sad for Salopek. He looked pretty good last week, some nice passes to set up goal scoring opportunities last week and knew where to find the ball. I think he would have done better on Saturday night than Francou will. He'd also be looking at next year and know that he'll be behind Francou in the pecking order. I'm worried we'll be more likely to lose him now.

Our selection panel are total ********ing morons who should all be taken out the back and shot.

why take them out the back? why waste a bullet? none of us can be surprised by the garbage dealt by this twits. Alan Scott was wrong, but he won't be again.

The first mistake made this playing year, was to assume that Primus would come into the side and provide something in addition or better to Lade and Brogan.

WRONG call.

I have seen nothing in 21 rounds of footy to suggest that Primus can add anything to a side that already has Lade and Brogan fit and playing good footy.

Francou - ok, he will get some touches and there is a 50% chance he will have a good game. I would not have dropped Salopek however. Probably Pettigrew as as Mitch pointed out, he is more of a bits player at the moment or utility.

Shattock wont come in. If anyone comes in it will be choppy and white. Jeeeeee dont know why every one is so upset, its a dam site better team than named against them last time. I am still really confident, hell we lost all those players in round 1, it was a bloody hot day, we had no run left in our legs, no interchange to speak of, it was a Subi and we went down by about 26 points.

100% Confident People, come on show same dam faith!!

PPWA, I admire you for the way you never lose hope, show optimism 52 weeks a year, forgives and forgets the sins and peccadilloes of under-performing senior players, gets excited each game about our chances and believes we are the bees knees.

Yes, I admire you, but the problem is that those morons running our club think the same way you do. Yours is faith - you put in and i applaud it. There's is blindness and laziness - they just take out, and i hate that.

The greatness of our club was built on people like you, but is being put in jeopardy by this crowd.

He will be in the ruck ahead of Brogan and Lade. That is part of the reason I added the last part in my post.
When looking at the combined output of
Brogan/Lade/Primus Vs Brogan/Lade/White
I would go for White anyday of the week at the moment.
If we also include time on ground, I think we'll find that the Primus Vs White stats would go even more in favor of White.
