They haven't had any scans as of yet but Hardwick last night confirmed it was the opposite leg to the one he did last year and it was only minor. I suppose that is good news.

2012 Rising Star nomination

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A rookie list elevation, the 21-year-old battled
hamstring injuries for the second year in succession.

Looked the part during his nine games as a key defender,
using his long arms to advantage and reading the play well,
and was rewarded with a Rising Star nomination early in 2012.

Gee we have high hopes for this fella... looks so at home as a quality defender and showed he was also developing very quickly as a rebounder and starter of offensive moves from the back half.
All of this from a couple of injury interupted seasons... God knows where he would be at if he had enjoyed a clean run!

Would love to see 22 (or 24 ;)) games from him in 2013.

Bloke is as cool as a cucumber!

Him and his brother used to go to my school and kreuzer all really top blokes that are really nice genuine people, But still if we lose first round im going to kick Matts hyundai.
Also his girlfriend plays netball against mine funny during the half time break he can basically just put the ball in without even chucking it

Tiger guns on the mend

By richmondfc.com.au, March 13, 2013

Richmond is pleased with the progress being made by key pair, Nathan Foley and Dylan Grimes, on the comeback trail from long-term injury problems and expects both players to have an impact, sooner rather than later, in season 2013.

Foley is recovering from a rupture of the Achilles tendon in his right foot, which he suffered last July, while Grimes is returning from the latest bout of hamstring surgery that he underwent late last year.

“They’re tracking well, although they definitely won’t play Round 1, Tigers coach Damien Hardwick told Fox Sports.

“Nathan is back to his previous best sprint work. We’ve just got to make sure we manage his loads and get him up and going.

“He’ll probably be back about Round 5-7, somewhere around there.

“Dylan is training full-time with the group now, and we’ve just got to make sure we get some game time into him.”

Hardwick admitted there were some initial concerns for Grimes’ long-term football future, when he again ripped the hamstring, during an early pre-season training session at Moorabbin, but they had now been allayed.

“We had a fantastic success with the operation, we found the problem and we are very confident the issue has been rectified,” Hardwick said.

“We look forward to Dylan playing a long and distinguished career for this footy club.”

Positive Richmond signs at Coburg

April 1, 2013

Richmond’s improved playing depth was highlighted in the final hit-out of VFL affiliate Coburg before the start of its 2013 home-and-away season.
A host of Richmond-listed players starred in Coburg’s 46-point win against the Northern Blues (14.13 to 7.9).

Young gun defender, Dylan Grimes, returning from his long-term hamstring trouble, was impressive at half-back, playing three quarters of the match (11 possessions, with three rebound-50s and three marks).

Two Tiger changes

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Young gun defender, Dylan Grimes, will play his first game for Richmond in more than nine months, when he lines up against St Kilda in Friday night’s encounter at the MCG.

Grimes, who has overcome significant hamstring trouble, has been recalled to the line-up, in one of two changes the Tigers have made for the Round 2 clash.

Former Melbourne utility Ricky Petterd will make his debut for Richmond, after missing the opening round victory over Carlton with a groin injury.

They replace Ben Griffiths and Robin Nahas, who have both been omitted.

Grimes, 21, 193cm and 88kg, has played 17 league games, with the last being in Round 14, 2012 against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

He sustained a severe hamstring injury in that match, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Then, late last year, Grimes re-injured his hamstring at training and he subsequently underwent further surgery.

Now, following several impressive hit-outs at VFL level with Coburg, Grimes has forced his way back into Richmond’s side.

I know the board has been a full love in recently but I just want to say how good has Grimes been.

He has been easily our most improved player this year IMO and is so so solid. His reading of the play, body work and hands are really first rate

After injury plagued seasons he is really showing his worth.

Cheers Grimesy appreciate it campaigner :rainbow::hearts:
