After 2020, my excitement level for Balta was off the charts. I thought with Balta & Baker down back, Bolton, Chol taking on a more regular role - the club had a Geelong-like future where the window of opportunity would stay open for another decade.

I was wrong.

Balta has gone to absolute shit. "Fine" when your on a multi-million 7 year contract is not even close to being good enough.

King kicked 7 today & we have Miller, Balta & Brown playing back there to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen. 7 in 2026 is like 12 in 1998. The tall backs were woeful today - they were a level or 3 below King.

There is absolutely no way you are getting a first rounder for him. none. Not with that contract. 2032. Its stupid. No one is talking on 5 years of Noah Balta. Maybe if we pay 50+% of his contract

I can't stress enough how disappointingly behind the times the club is when it comes to trades, free-agents, signings & contracts. They are playing checkers while other teams are playing 3d chess.

Our Academies have generated absolutely nothing. The only functioning piece we are using to rebuild with is draft-picks. And if we are hitting those is still anything but conclusive.

I see him to be way too slow and not aerial enough to be a wing.

They could maybe try him as a fwd ala Caddy-Townsend-Jack Graham. But tbh it doesn't seem to fit whatever style Yze is going for down there. Our forwardline has been incredibly dull now for 4-5 years. I don't really see us doing anything innovative down there
