Would you guys really throw daniher in the ruck? I would have thought a blue chip 19-20 year old wouldn't be thrown into knee clashing contests with giants.

He did it a couple of games last season. Didn't look like getting a hitout at all but they put him in those spots.

Have a look at daniher's average stats - He finds the ball - Bit of time in the ruck releases the pressure from the forward line.

Ralph on KB's show was insistent that T-Bell was the most important component of the team - KB did his best to hide his mirth.

And Ralph often adds snide lines/comments, whether its in an article or on radio/television. He's been called out on this on twitter, and of course then blocks the tweet.

Fair enough. He's got the height, plus a forward who can chop out the ruckmen is invaluable. I see the benifit of him getting a few cheap touches up the ground to build his confidence and he looks to have good agility.

I'd just be a bit nervy with obviously you best prospect in the ruck.

Anyway I like the look of him and am very jelly you got him with pick 10!

Bad news for TBC and the club, but probably good news for Dainher & possibly Hardingham
We simply have to go with Daniher round 1 now, and Hardingham who has apparently been training as a forward, comes right into play as the 3rd tall option. Looking at the fixture hopefully we can get TBC back just before or after the ANZAC day game, so hopegully he'll only miss 5 or 6 rounds....Team until then might be;-

Pears Hurley Baguley
Hibberd Hooker Dempsey
Stanton Heppell/Myers Zakka
Chapman Carlisle Winders
Hardingham Daniher Goddard/Watson

Ryder Goddard/Watson Hocking

Bench from: Heppell/Myers Melksham Fletch
SUB Colyer

I'll consider that point successfully missed.

Don't think so.

We are discussing best 22 - Who is named on the bench on Thursday night is irrelevant - We could name Ryder,Bellchambers, JD on the bench - Obviously this would change on the day of the game when the starting 18, interchange 3 and sub have to be named 30 minutes before the game.

Yep, well and truly missed.

Tell me yaco, how exactly do we plan to structure the backline with 4 key position players?

I think fitness wise, it will be hard (anyone who misses Pre Season usually takes a while/if at all that season) to get the same level of fitness, but on a plus side, he will be back to 'fitness' work in 3-4 weeks.. so by round 5 he should be good to come back..

I think Ryder can handle sole ruck duties fine and seems to relish that full time gig, looking at the line up:
Rnd 1 up against NM could be ok.. Goldie is a great ruck, but he works 1 out.. so Ryder won't be run off the park
Rnd 2 is Hawthorn who struggled last year, but have got McEvoy in to try and address their issues at ruck.. with Roughie set to go forward to cover Franklin.. Ryder should be able to handle McEvoy and Hale and has done so before. Especially considering we are catching Hawthorn early in the season where they 'may' be struggling with Premiership hang over and a shorter pre-season.
Rnd 3 is Carlton who still use Kruezer predominately.. who is better as a 'tall mid' rather than 'big man'.. Ryder has and should match up well in this game. Fatigue could be a factor with Carlton also able to use Warnock and Hampson (depending on injury)
Rnd 4 against Freo 'could' be a problem if Sandi, Griffen and Clarke are all healthy, or two out of three are healthy, however 1 out against Clarke should see Ryder be able to 'break even' with similar game styles. Fatigue liklely to be a huge problem for this game as it is at a big ground, PS, and likely high heat (even though it is a night game).. and if there is a tag team of Clarke and Sandi, then Ryder could struggle. Potentially dangerous game. I would suspect the fitness staff would be looking for every advantage to try and get Belly ready for this clash, even if for 'half' before being subbed.
Rnd 5 against St Kilda is no problem, one being they don't have a ruck after trading McEvoy for long stints.. however it is expected that Belly will be well and truly back for this game.

So I think Rnd 4 will be the big worry for the coaching staff right now (not that ANY of these games are 'easy' but I don't see Ryder being smashed in any of them).
