Sending players to surgery as the first option is poor player management. Most surgery does damage to the healthy surrounding area as part of the procedure, it's not something you want to be trigger happy with.

Correct - As well as some think you can ' click your fingers' and convince a specialist to perform an operation.

I am a Bellchambers fan, and was hoping a year off would have had him back as fresh as a daisy and raring to go, alas it doesn't seem to be the way things work. Jake Carlisle and St Kilda were in a similar spot.

If it was long-term they could put him on the LTI list and elevate McKernan, but that doesn't seem to be on the cards, so I can only assume that they are confident that he will be back sooner rather than later? LTI is 12-weeks from date of going on the list I believe, which would be close to the mark if they were being conservative?

An eight week injury sees him available for AFL round one, though nobody wants to see that. Ideally I guess he should be back running by late February, and then six weeks training has Bellchambers back playing VFL by their first round (mid-April), so all going well could be back for AFL round six or seven (end of April/Early May), which he could do if he was on the LTI list, though he would miss out on valuable VFL games to build match fitness and form etc..

Anyway, I am rambling..

Needs at least 4-5 games in the VFL, hasn't played for 2 years!
Agree. However if we get smashed in the ruck in the first couple of games we might bring him back early just to compete in the ruck.

Will play VFL again this week

And rightly so. I thought Draper was better than him last week. Looks like he needs another couple of games.

Sat across from belly in the members on the weekend. **** his missus is hot. At least I think she was his gf.....

he was previously with Miss Australia, so probably him

on a football note, will need some good performances in the VFL to get a spot in our side. i do prefer our much more mobile lineup with Mckernan rather than Leuneberger and/or T Bell

if (and it's a big if), Mckernan can find some consistency, he could potentially be our No 1 ruck, especially with the way footy is played currently.

So you're Draper for Green? I can get behind that.
