CHAD Wingard is enjoying a pre-season of relative anonymity after top draft pick Ollie Wines' impressive emergence.

Wingard has been away from the headlines, but his effort in the Northern Territory last week suggests he is in for a ripper year after a fine initial season in 2012.
The club's first selection in the 2011 draft has impressed the coaches with a steady progress and has taken on an air of assurance in his second year in the system.

The Natural

Stunning form the evidence of Wingard's wizardry

CHAD Wingard is The Natural.Port Adelaide's teenage sensation is in rarefied company despite showing scant interest in the AFL until he was drafted.

Only Carlton champion Chris Judd has averaged more Champion Data rankings points in his second AFL season than Wingard.
Judd averaged 110 with West Coast in 2003.
Wingard is averaging 109 in five games with the Power this year.
Judd has gone on to win two Brownlow Medals.
Whether Wingard can go close to reaching those heights remains to be seen.
But his potential is great. Of drafted players, few have as big an upside as him.
Stunning form the evidence of Wingard's wizardry

good luck to Chad for 2014 ....

Chad is good odds for the brownlow in 2014 (so it may pay to put a lazy $10 on him for a win or a place)

he is $81 to 1 (pre season)

Review by TeeKray
If Chad entered 2015 as an emerging star of the competition, he finished it as one of its fully fledged superstars. The statistics say it all. He booted a career high 53 goals. He kicked multiple goals in every game from round 8 to 22 inclusive. He kicked at least one goal in every game until round 23. He simply found a way to influence each and every game and became the outright most dangerous player in our forward line. As usual, he took marks, kicked goals from angles, was deadly from set shots and bobbed up in the midfield on occasion. Chad’s best games were numerous and frequent but probably highlighted by his 23 disposals and 3 goals which had a big say in separating what had been a close game against the Bulldogs in round 10, his 27 disposals and 4 goals a week later against Geelong and 20 disposals and 4 goals against Hawthorn in round 21 after nearly being knocked out when Luke Hodge jammed his head and neck between a goal post. His season was crowned with a second All Australian selection, a stunning achievement for a player having completed just his fourth year at AFL level.
