Got a multi going in the nba today although after putting the bet on last night I cant remember the exact odds and who I actually went in the second game (cant access to check at work)

But here it is:

$31 on the following multi
Denver to beat New Orleans
into
I think it is Atlanta to beat the Heat (whoever was the shorter in price)

If anyone knows the odds from sporting bet and may be able to post them that would be great.

EDIT: Atlanta won by 15 points and at the moment with 8.25 left in the 4th Denver is up by 15 as well. :thumbsu:

I had a look at them this morning and had a speculative bet on Atlanta 11+. I think straight out they were $1.40, definitely favourites anyway.

ok, surely there's gotta be some rules to this game! one of them being never bet on tennis! awful sport for gambling, odds are always unders, and lets face it - with the amount of bullsh!t tournaments that are on week in, week out the results arent always legit. for me, i might consider punting on one of the majors... but not the little ones.

betting on freo and richmond should not be allowed. and betting on rugby union should be banned, because it sucks.

i'm a big fan of betting on soccer - the fact that there's the third result in 'draw' available bumps up odds a bit, which means a short priced favourite in football only usually gets down to $1.35.

football is my go to sport for a challenge like this, because it can be pretty easy to pick results. which is why i'm so disappointed with the upcoming weekend!

barca are a go-to team - but playing real, and with champions league in the background, they aren't backable. (paying $2.60 though!)

man u and chelsea are another 2 go-to teams, but again the champions league gives me no confidence in either side at all.

it's a bugger of a round in the afl too - couple of very even games, one blow out with the line at an incredible 57.5 points, then the harder to pick games are offering pretty average odds. (does anyone really think collingwood deserves to be under $1.40 against anyone?)

could be a quiet weekend for me - but that's ok. i like this game. it's teaching me to be a much more disciplined punter.

No rules to the entire game.

Just rules for the individual. What works for you. Doesn't work for me.

Discipline, doesn't mean less bets. Remember that.

I reckon there's money to be made taking $1.10-$1.15 on Centrebet's "pick your own line" feature, and multi-ing up all eight games.

I could be wrong but I'm going to use the $20 challenge to test it.

This week:

Collingwood +26.5
Carlton +38.5
West Coast +34.5
Essendon +54.5
Port Adelaide +40.5
Sydney +28.5
Geelong -15.5
St Kilda +30.5

Total odds $2.323. We'll see how it goes.

what happened to the $20 challenge being about betting on $1.40 favourites and trying to turn $20 into $25,000?

meh, each to their own i suppose...

good luck with the 8 leg multi though! i don't remember the last time i picked 8 in a round... let alone trying to pick margins too!

Ok, so I'm splitting my $35 into 2.

Bet2: $17
Houston series win over Portland in the NBA @$1.15

Winner!
$20 Brisbane +24.5 pts @ $1.14

Safe bet I hope.

This $20 challenge is proving really hard. Even short priced favourite seem to be upset quite often, and I'm starting to wonder if the short odds are too short to realistically stand a chance of beating the bookie long term.

well, i had to dig past the big 3 leagues, but i found some awesome football to punt on tonight.

celtic are paying a very juicy $1.62 on sportsbet to beat aberdeen. celtic are away - but aberdeen haven't beaten celtic in the league ins something like 8 years.

one-third of my $76 kitty has gone on them.

i try not to bet on bayern munich - hate the club, and they've screwed me a couple of times that i've tipped them. add to that borussia monchengladbach are a club with a lot of heart and will not be blown out of the water by bayern. but bayern are at home, and $1.30 is ok odds. so another third of the kitty has gone on them.

the celtic game is the early night tonight. if it gets up, i'll reinvest it. i know i've said that i'm not confident in barcelona. but at half ball (pays if side wins or draws) they're paying $1.42, which is very good odds.

if i don't end up betting on the eagles or lions today, i may end up on man u. i know there's the champions league in the background and all that. but they have so much squad depth, and middlesborough are crap. at better than $1.50, that's a good bet i think

Mate my bets are pretty much exactly that - turning $20 into $25k using $1.40 bets is effectively a giant multi so doing the same with $1.10-$1.15 shots is still fitting in with the spirit of the challenge.

None of the first five have ever really looked in any doubt so far.

after just 2 of my 3 punts for the night having already resulted, i'm already up for the night :D

starting with my running total of $75, my $25 became $40.50 cents with celtic beating aberdeen ($1.62 - which were incredible odds).

another $25 bet became $38.25 with man u beating 'borough ($1.53).

so i'm up for the night already, even if the third bet on bayern goes pear shaped.

i'm not resting for the night though. a reinvestment is pending.

$25 going on lyon to beat valenciennes at an incredible $1.77. i realise lyon haven't been great this season, and have bean average over the last month... but valenciennes are relegation bound. i'm hoping that even home ground advantage isn't enough.

and the big risk of the night is the already foreshadowed punt of $25 on barcelona at half ball (can win or draw) against real, paying $1.47.

fingers crossed! i know something is bound to go wrong... it's just too easy at this stage. something will go wrong very soon... i can feel it :(

edit: also put a tiny little 5 bucks on a multi - marsielles to beat toulouse ($1.53), arsenal to beat pompey ($2.25), chelsea to beat fulham ($1.48 - although wish i hadn't as the odds are garbage and it's exactly the kind of match chelsea could lose) and barca to beat real draw no bet ($1.92 - i guess if that's a draw, the multi will revert to odds taking out that game).

with sportsbets extra 10% on multis it becomes odds of $9.68

I just remembered that I have some money on my sportingbet account, so thought I'd see how far I can make it stretch. The idea is to start with $20, and after each bet place the $20 + winnings onto the next bet. And so on and so forth until I lose or the sum becomes so big I feel uncomfortable making such large bets.

I have a little over $60 on my account, so will have 3 concurrent bets running. Chances are all 3 bets will fizzle within a few days, or I might get lucky and earn me a bit of drinking money.

My rules:
- Don't bet on multi's. Take it one bet at a time and size up each bet.
- Bet on short priced favourites only. Nothing more than $1.40 (give or take a few cents)
- No horses or greyhounds.
- No tennis. The inconsistencies in results far outweigh the incredibly short prices that favourites pay

Goal:
1) Make $25,000 so I can buy a new car :D
2) Have fun and learn if money can be made by a complete novice.

Feel free to play along with me, even if you use fake money.

First bets to be posted tonight or tomorrow in time for the weekends AFL matches.
Been there done that---->>>>Update Gentlemen all up i have picked 6 winners in a row 4 afl games and 2 nba games from an original $40 dollar bet I have cashed out $219,sportsbet hate me.

ok, i've mentioned some results already - but rather than take things out, i'll just try and post the whole betting slip from yesterday.

ok, i couldn't.

started with $75.

celtic beat aberdeen - $25 @ $1.62
man u beat borough - $25 @ $1.53.

at midnight, and with a $25 bet taken out of the kitty, i was already on $79, so there were reinvestments.

bayern beat monchengladback - $25 @ $1.28
barca halfball (knew i should've taken them head to had at $2.60!) - $25 @ $1.7

the unsuccesful bets (which i foreshadowed, cos my win streak has just been too long)

lyon BEATEN by valenciennes - $25 @ $1.77 LOST. and the bookie knew what he was talking about with great odds.

aresenal/chelsea/barcalona/marseilles multi - $5 @ $9.68 LOST thanks to marseilles being crap.

so after all that, the running total is up about $17 from yesterday to $93.

so only one bet today - i couldnt bring myself to back sydney given how my tipping is going this round. but $25 has gone on geelong over 39.5 points @ $1.37

Carlton +38.5

Port Adelaide +40.5
Sydney +28.5
Geelong -15.5
St Kilda +30.5

Total odds $2.323. We'll see how it goes.

looking good so far
