There can be only one...
The major problem is we also have a timid coach. Hansen was taking grabs, has played forward, where was the brave move to push Hansen forward to pinch hit some goals and drag Drew back into the back line and tell him to get in front of their tall forwards. He was obviously practicing his spoiling on Daw's marking attempts getting ready for the call... where was it?

Scott just expected it to happen because we had some momentum in the 2nd/3rd quarters, but he did nothing really to change some dire structural problems that was killing our ability to take control of the game.

I do Agree that Hansen should have been sent forward this game to change this up.... can send Drew to defense...
Hansen is in career best form in defense but we needed to role the dice.... but FFS where were the crumbers!!

With Drew you have one chance, that is in the air, if he marks it he looks great, the second the ball goes to ground it's a turnover. Brad Scotts comments on him being the best pressure defensive forward in the competition are a reflection on him as a coach of knowing sweet FA. Has he ever watched Jack Darling?

Yeah decent shout re: Hansen forward.

Days like today you need two subs.

As captain, when he misses a close goal it has the same effect on the team as going to every player and kicking them in the scrotum. Back to the VFL and get out of Majak's way. Ziebell captain now.

If drew was concrete hands, then what was maj?
Maj marked the ball like a man with no hands would. Unless he has a clear run at it he's useless. For a bloke with his physique I can't believe how easily he was beaten one on one. Petrie is a poor form but Black and Daw are hardly holding up their end either. As for the vice-captaincy, hopefully it won't be an issue after the break but, nah, Drew isn't the guy. He just doesn't impose himself on enough contests.

Should've cleared well out of the forward line.

Seemed like our forwards couldn't read the flight of the ball to save themselves - embarassing under a roof.

LOL. Some of you turkeys need to get a "raging clue". :stern look

No doubt Petrie was ordinary. But if we are being fair here so was Daw and Black.

We lost today because defensively we were putrid. Too loose. Got done with pace on the counter. If Drew didn't play today we still would have lost in the same way.

In Maj's defence, he had to not only beat his man, he had to beat Petrie who was trying to spoil him and Petrie's man.
C'mon Tas. Your desire to see Petrie dropped is clouding your judgement. Daw too often today either attempted to mark one handed or simply got under it. You can't blame Petrie for that. :stern look

Yeah, Drew's problems today :
* he and Majak don't know how to get out of each other's way
* the rules on holding opponents in marking contests, and chopping the arms, don't apply to him
* when he did get his hands to the ball, he only held a couple ; we never seemed to havbe the required crumbers ready to pounce
* when he had a sitter of a set shot in the 3rd 1/4, he missed it. An inexcusable, very costly miss.
* he seems to be playing with no confidence

For mine, he had a lot of credits in the bank at the start of the season. He's now in overdraft.

Disagree with 95% of this thread.

Drew is battling manfully. The delivery is generally slow and haphazard. It almost like our mids pick out his man as the target.

He still took some strong grabs and was covering a lot of ground trying to make something happen.

Bit sick of him getting scapegoated.

We never seem to have room in the forward line which means we are moving the ball way to slow from the back half. No point bombing it forward and hoping someone will take a packed mark. The bulldogs lost last night bc they continued to bomb the ball.
