C'mon Tas. Your desire to see Petrie dropped is clouding your judgement. Daw too often today either attempted to mark one handed or simply got under it. You can't blame Petrie for that. :stern look
I don't want Petrie dropped, I want him to not spud things up 5 out of 7 games.

Daw did run under some of the balls, he has to adapt to AFL footy which is worse skills than VFL footy, for Werribee he can go out on a hard lead and expect an amateur footballer to just stick the ball out in front of him and give him a chance to run onto it. If the kick is good it is impossible for the forward to run under it, because he is going flat out, which is what you need to happen to give the defender a hard chance to spoil legitimately.

He has to get used to the NMFC hang-time kicks, even if he was Sandilands most of the kicks would sail way over his head. His best mark was a contested mark that was aimed about a meter over Black's head.

Hang on.

How is it possible that Maj gets better delivery in the VFL than he does in the AFL?

Why don't our players know that Maj - hell, damn near every forward in the AFL - works best when you stick it out in front and let him run onto it?

Back to the future for Drewy....... let him have a run down back and see what happens. Hansen is clunking em pretty well, but in saying this I think it should be done during the course of the game where we are behind ( say after halftime) not at the start of a new game.

Mate I don't know how, it has driven me batshit crazy over the last few years. You don't have to even be a good kick, these needle passes like McKenzie did last week are not necessary, the fat side of the oval there is literally a paddock to run onto all you have to do is get the length right, you can be off by a country mile it will just alter the angle the leading forward runs at the ball and runs in to shoot at goal.

We just don't try to hit targets most of the time, we just put it up like we are some contested marking machine of a club, we are one of the worst in the competition.

Dunno. But I hope it's true. All we have to do is send out the Werribee Tigers each week and we'll be like the AFL's Harlem Globetrotters.
The thing with amateur footballers is they know they aren't great so don't try to do shit they know they can't pull off or don't expect their team mates to pull off. When they have time and space, they will often just put the ball to a good position to 'the advantage of the leading forward' and give him an opportunity to win a contest.

How often would you say our midfield gives our forwards the advantage?

Jay Kennedy-Harris would look mighty fine running around in our forward line right now.

No disrespect to one Trent Dumont :stern look
No disrespect to Trent Dumont either but I'm still scratching my head at our logic on this one. Needs weren't fulfilled.

Where is our hit the foot of the pack at pace small goalkicker?

Boomer can do it at time but we need him up the field too. LT is more inventive that quick.

JKH was custom made for our needs and knew the club too. Just smacks of Aaron Davey Mk II.

And don't give me Nahas :crumberwhodoesntkickgoals look

If Drew would kick the flat out piss easy goals he misses too often then he gets a pass from me. When you miss set shots from 35-45 metres out dead in front, then you suck the life out of any momentum you might gain

How often today (and over the last few years) did we see one of our defenders caught one out against an opponent with the ball carrier running straight at them. The ball carrier and forward had a distinct advantage in knowing where the ball was going to be kicked. It's not necessarily out front to a lead, sometimes it's out the back or to a favourable side. On the other hand, when our mids are streaming forward with the ball, we seem to give the opposition defender every chance to spoil or mark, with a kick that gives our forward no advantage and often a disadvantage.

Maj was our best forward today, despite running under it numerous times and his one handed attempts. Still looked more dangerous than Drew and Black combined. Maj needs to run and leap at it more. Gets lead under it, and ends up having to vertically leap to try and mark. So easy to spoil.

The service going forward was putrid. This was why we lost, not the big blokes on the end of it. I'm sick of seeing Drew have to battle 2 blokes. Our forward structure is embarrassing.

the team defence mantra and lack of crumbing are hurting our big forwards. they are expected to play up the ground and then work back. Against Collingwood, the forwards were way up the ground - too far - noted by a couple of analysts. Then we lose structure when we have the ball. Currently when we get a break - the guy who get it a bit looks up and nothing ahead so they hold it and turn it over (ie Gibson) or go to the boundary and create a stoppage and then the forward line is full of defenders. If guys were crumbing after petrie/daw made contests and we score - they get confidence and start hanging onto grabs - chasing tail all day as a big forward and going up with 4 guys in your zone will sap anyone.

This 'streaming forwards' is part of the problem, we stream sideways and crawl along the boundary so the option forward is to the pocket which is a low probability shot on goal or into the corridor which is congested because we have crawled along the boundary line.

Our run is far too wide, which is resulting in a lot of ootfs but also makes it a lot harder to go back into the corridor and without that quick or clean transition we can't hit the fat side of the forward 50 so our option is congested in the pocket or more congested in the corridor.

Good teams and even VFL teams will use the corridor so they have a lot more options to find space. Our problem has been turning the ball over across half forward through the corridor and being burnt on the rebound. To me, that just means you don't bang long to the half forward line, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't use the corridor. Even this year, we have looked at our best when using the corridor. We have struggled to score anything chipping a long the flanks.

Drew was putrid and needs to organize the forward line better as a leader so that he or Maj had more space. Their spacing didn't do them any favours.

However, when are we going to learn that we're a better team with another small buzzing around and equal numbers forward?

Been calling to swing Hansen forward during the games for a number of weeks, but thought it might pick up with Majak being in there.
To be fair drew wasn't the only one who slaughtered momentum, the 19th men were shizen

Yep, Nahas has played 2 games by my reckoning we have won both (Sydney and Fremantle).
Not suggesting he was the difference today but he has looked dangerous this year and adds pressure.
Poor decision to drop him although he must improve his fitness
