Player assessment

Represented Vic Country at the NAB AFL U18 Championships. He has a terrific work rate and his run and carry is game breaking. His ability to find space and work to position is very good. His time of 2.93 seconds for the 20m sprint and score of 14.4 in the beep test showed his excellent athletic ability at the National Draft Combine.

#30 Brisbane - Jackson Merrett (187cm midfielder - Geelong)

Vic Country and Geelong Falcon midfielder, who has been overshadowed by some of his teammates so far in regards to draft talk. In a draft full of smaller midfielders, Merrett has a real chance of working his way up the order, and from all reports he should impress in interviews. Is a versatile player who can play both inside and outside, and is a genuine ball winner. AFL Comparison: David Mundy.

Player comparison: Jasper Pittard
Range: 25-60

Profile: Versatile type midfielder who doesn’t really stand out which might by why there has been limited talk about him to this point. Still skinny. But is quality. Has pace and a really nice skill set. More of an outside player but can take his turn inside. Has great leadership potential and seems to be really motivated and looks like a good find.

Re: National Draft Pick # 31 -Jackson Merrett

Wow no Markworth surprise at that, but hes a nice outside player that suits us well. Hopefully get someone good at 59 like Murdoch, Nelson or a ruck (Bolger Downie)

Re: National Draft Pick # 31 -Jackson Merrett

Need a line breaking mid. Sounds like a good pick.

My first job was in a doughnut factory, I kid you not.
Anyone wants to make any jokes about that you can shut your clams

Welcome Jackson!

From the Hun article posted above: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...ady-a-true-champ/story-e6frf9jf-1226204098386

"... Somehow the teenager manages to start his day at 4am with casual shifts at the local butter factory." I lol'd at this - don't know why, it's just so random.

I'll call the nickname "Butter" now.

Well he is from Cobden so chances are he will be somehow associated with a butter factory. :D

RIG bringing the lolz on draft night. It's why we love him. No homo.

Not that theres anything wrong with that

I'm happy with tonights draft as I was last year. Was more confused last year with not getting mids but hey they were right.

Looks like we have a policy of getting good kicks of the pill. I like this policy ;)
