dont ask me why - or if its wise...

but i have a strong premonition hes coming in
In for green? Or Colyer?
Can play both the hff and wing role.
Always thought he could be a monfries-esque forward.
At least the vfl players would have a crack. We have been too conservative to drop players this year.
Begley, Merrett, Ridley, Myers could all come in this week

Robust analysis validated by strong supportive arguments
To interpret Eth's comment...
Merrett has shown nothing at AFL level in years.
He's had one decent VFL game and been OK in a few others.
There are kids who are playing well in the VFL (eg. Begley) who can play his position but better.
There's a reason why he didn't play last year.
The kid is done.

I know Eth watches a lot of VFL and AFL, my post was a bit of a piss take ;)

Well he hasn't shown 'nothing' at AFL level he just hasn't kicked on from a promising start for whatever reason

If he maintains his recent VFL form I think he will be retained (Possibly as a re-rookie type scenario) on a one year deal at the end of the season.

Depends on the quality of this draft/trade/DFA period, I'd say, but if he does not play a game this year and contribute in any meaningful way (if he was to get a call up), I don't see the value in prolonging the inevitable. At least he is finally playing well in a role that he is actually suited to in the VFL that gives him faint chance of senior selection.

Don't they say the same thing every year?

"It starts well but drops away quickly"

Until echo chamber names Start bouncing...then it gets deeper
it gets really deep when people start patting each other on the back about the various diamonds in the rough their clubs drafted with pick 94 or whatever
