OTG: I was absolutely stoked that we drafted Lawson Humphries in 2023 and I wrote a piece later-on (see below) on Geelong Big Footy explaining why, after Kingy made some glowing remarks about him.
I do realise that the attached below video at '37 seconds' is only one piece of play but I've gotta say that would be as good of a single highlight I've seen from a young non-AFL player, it's absolutely a brilliant, stunning and 'exciting' piece of football orchestrated by Lawson Humphries, FUTURE ELITE..... let's bloody well hope so! GO CATS
Lawson Humphries Highlights | Draft
The mail everyone had on the cats was we were clammering to move up the order to grab dodson... Yet we didnt even want to touch him with our picks in the 40’s/50’s.... Journalists seem to make stuff up out their ass to get a click.Highlights looked great. Compare that to Dodson who’s package on the AFL site barely shows him leaving the ground let alone grabbing a decent mark.
We lost our WA talent scout Liam Woodland to Freo after the Humphries draft. I do sometimes wonder if it was sort of "sorry for leaving, here's an absolute gem as farewell gift."When we first drafted Humphries, I thought hmmm a long shot. But as soon as I watched him in the VFL for the very first time I knew he was going to make it. Unbelievable selection really.

Same here. Although it took me a few games. It was his ball use that impressed me. He did not waste a kick. When we first drafted Humphries, I thought hmmm a long shot. But as soon as I watched him in the VFL for the very first time I knew he was going to make it. Unbelievable selection really.
Jacob Molier's 4 goal haul in his 2nd VFL game.
Best part of being a Cats supporter.....seeing some random Pick 50 Wells Special dude that you've barely heard of, coming out of nowhere and showing fantastic signs.
Second game! He hasn't just played a good game two-thirds through his first season, but in only his second game.I probably get as much joy, if not more, out of seeing a young draftee show some promise than a seasoned player perform well.
Not much ruck at all at this stage - Edwards & Pike have been our primary rucksSecond game! He hasn't just played a good game two-thirds through his first season, but in only his second game.
Do you know if he's been played more in the forward or the ruck in his two games so far?
Interesting. I wonder if we had took him, would he have still left? One can assume it was more about going home to Adelaide than getting out of Sydney (the football club).Rumour is we were keen on Jordan Dawson (also a Sturt boy) with our pick 59 back in 2015 before Sydney took him at 56. We ended up taking Ryan Gardner.
I wonder if he could be the long-term replacement for Jazza Cameron? Big shoes to fill, of course, but Neale is now starting to fill the huge void that Hawk left, which goes to show what a bit of time and development can do.Not much ruck at all at this stage - Edwards & Pike have been our primary rucks

Four solid goals too. If he keeps kicking quads he might take Ollie Henrys place in the AFL side.I didn't expect Molier to be a player showing signs year one based purely on skinny 19yo ruck/fwd weight of average statistics
This is a very pleasant surprise
He needs time to marinate. Has the Andrew Mackie build at present, and is still raw from a development POV.Four solid goals too. If he keeps kicking quads he might take Ollie Henrys place in the AFL side.
