Strong second half of the year.

If we can nail down the partner in crime ( Coomben, 199cm Edwards 202cm) Souva will clean up next year.

Also off contact end of 2022. If he has a really good year, could earn himself a big contract $ wise.

Summary

A a lot of pressure was lumped on the shoulders of Souva after North decided to trade Ben Brown at the end of the 2020 season. Souva instantly became our key (and sometimes) only focal point inside forward 50. There were concerns as to how he would cope being the number 1 forward, and those concerns were justified in the first 6-8 weeks of the season. Ultimately, his season was the tale of two halves. For the first half of the season he really struggled to get going, his work rate was there. He wasn't getting any space or reward due to poor game plan execution and because he was often getting double and triple teamed by opposition defenders. Once the bye hit, his from turned a corner. He started having more of a presence and he was getting on the end of scoring chains. It also helped that Zurhaar, Stephenson and Thomas found form and started to take the pressure off him inside the forward 50. His service improved and he was able to impact the scoreboard more consistently. His season was capped by a 7 goal game against Carlton. Considering he had limited support he ended up putting together a fantastic season, one of which he should be really proud of. He improved on just about every statistical metric this year. In the off season, he has to look to add 2-3kg so he can deal with the big gorilla key defenders better. His work rate is elite, and if he can add more contested marking to his game I have no doubt he could easily be a consistent 50+ goal a year key forward. Only just turned 23, so there is still plenty of upside in his game.
