OOC end of 26. They added an extra year to his current contract. Was he out of contract? am I missing something obvious here?

I wonder if its a scenario that they didn't want Andrew to have a good VFL year in 2026 and be close if not debut at the end of the year and then not sign a new deal and stuff us over if he wanted to move clubs. Just a smart move to basically reset his contract after an injury year, 2 years to develop in the VFLSeems like an interesting one to go early on with an extension given where he was taken and his injuries since then. I liked how much he immediately bought into the club though and as has been stated on a number of occasions - if he has even half the raw talent of his brother, we've probably got a good one here.
I could see that, but surely you'd want to have a solid look at him in the VFL before that? Just didn't expect us to extend him before his return from injury.I wonder if its a scenario that they didn't want Andrew to have a good VFL year in 2026 and be close if not debut at the end of the year and then not sign a new deal and stuff us over if he wanted to move clubs. I don't really have a problem with it at all that being said – I just find it interesting.
He and his brother seem like loyal types in any case. Mac is on huge money but also turned down monster deals from Victoria. Dunno if the Suns deal is more or less but that wouldn't have mattered to many players to come before (and I'm sure after) him. And every time I've heard Riak speak I've gotten the impression that he'll be a one club player if we rate him highly enough.
