Sam Reid

Sam Reid’s outstanding athleticism and strong contested grab make him a genuine threat inside 50. The 2012 premiership forward showed exactly that when he booted six goals in the Sydney Swans’ clash with Collingwood in Mark Grook at the SCG to win the 2019 Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal. The 2009 draftee can also play as a loose man in defence or pinch-hit in the ruck. Reid has had very little luck on the injury front in his time in red and white, but he didn’t miss an AFL match in 2019. He’s played 143 career games at the top level for a return of 154 goals.

Sam Reid

Can anyone think of any defense for him playing in this side at the moment? He's not irreplaceable because McLean could do exactly what he does and the bar is set incredibly low.

Maybe it's time to move him to defense and try him there permanently.

Think he's still important as McCartin develops up forward. Least he does bring experience despite being a dud.

What experience is he bringing? He's not being smarter about his leads, he's not leading by example, he's not organising the forward line, he's not showing how to use your body in a contest.

I understand if he's bringing experience as a team leader with regards to providing advice at stoppages and quarter time but he isn't providing anything meaningful to the forward line.

I really want to like him as a player but he just isn't the forward we need right now with the way he's playing. Drop him into defense and let Mills sort him out. Papley is enough of a talker to get everyone in line in the forwards.

Don't think there's an alternative really that would do better.

yeah , not picking him

he isnt helping mccartin, they get in each other's way

Soft as butter. Im sick of him just being gifted games, bloody earn them. Would not be disappointed if he was moved on at years end, has had more than long enough to fulfill his so called 'potential'. 1 good game a year is just unacceptable.

There's plenty of criticism that can be aimed at Reid, but what's with the random numbers constantly being pulled out about what he's getting?

Any money is too much for him!

The worst thing and it's and indictment on our list is that despite being an absolute dud he's still our best option in his role

He looks injured, not soft. He’s never been soft.

he just can’t move

He looks the same as ever and what do you know he's as ordinary as ever. Trade for whatever.

He basically matched his average output for last year (sans 1 goal and 2 disposals).

he didn’t look hugely fir last year.

I think his body looked pretty shot most of last year, too, tbh.

he’s still getting up and down the ground and taking marks on the lead. What’s been really noticeable recently is how easily he’s been losing one-on-one contests. Felt like previously he would halve them.
CD keep that stat, but i don’t know if it’s publicly available
