’s outstanding athleticism and strong contested grab make him a genuine threat inside 50. The 2012 premiership forward showed exactly that when he booted six goals in the Sydney Swans’ clash with Collingwood in Mark Grook at the SCG to win the 2019 Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal. The 2009 draftee can also play as a loose man in defence or pinch-hit in the ruck. Reid has had very little luck on the injury front in his time in red and white, but he didn’t miss an AFL match in 2019. He’s played 143 career games at the top level for a return of 154 goals.

Deserves it. Has covered our ruck loss of Ladhams, popped up in the forward line and contributed nicely and his work around the ground has been good.

I wouldn't have believed it this time last year but absolutely. Playing the best, or at least most consisently good, footy of his career.

He stays fit, he could be good for a while as well. Our medical team are doing a tremendous job keeping our big men fit lately. He's only 30, younger than Rampe, and seems to have found his perfect role.

This guy has huge potential and i'm sure he will come good with goals at some point, but he almost lost us the game today. What is up with this guy. Natural footballer, great to watch, but geez, his conversion rate is woeful. What is he doing wrong? Honestly wouldn't surprise me if another team offered him a multi year contract in his current form.

There are quite a few teams that would really value the way he's currently playing. Wife is a Sydney girl (I think) and he has a young family so it would have to be a really great offer for him to relocate I'd think.

Worth remembering that he was in equally as impressive form early last season as well, before he got injured (and then, as we've always known with Reid, he was awful on return from injury.) So it's more than just one flukey season. Something has turned for him. I don't know what it is and maybe it's none of our business, as long as he keeps doing what he's doing.

Rolling one year contracts keep him lean and keen.

He's becoming the player we'd always hoped he would....just 10 years behind schedule.

I was always one who saw his value in the team but he's playing at a level above his usual workman like role. He is straight up influencing the result of games right now.

He's absolutely in career best form right now, mainly because he's finally had an extended injury-free period. He's always had it in him, he's just had a terrible run with injury over the course of his career. It's amazing he's been healthiest in the latter stages of his career.

Best month in a while but his 2015 and 2017 seasons were a solid body of work.

If Sam could kick straight he would just about be AA. His marking, chop out ruck work and general work rate has been elite.

remarkably, at this stage of a career that looked over, he's become an x-factor ... he poses a high-marking threat that franklin doesn't, but it means two dangerous big forwards, plus heeney, plus papley, plus hayward ...
but reid also, when fit, has always been able to roam the ground, and his body now even seems to have strengthened enough to be a genuine back-up ruck
so with all of that ... and then when he also kicks goals ... !!!
