Sam Reid

Sam Reid’s outstanding athleticism and strong contested grab make him a genuine threat inside 50. The 2012 premiership forward showed exactly that when he booted six goals in the Sydney Swans’ clash with Collingwood in Mark Grook at the SCG to win the 2019 Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal. The 2009 draftee can also play as a loose man in defence or pinch-hit in the ruck. Reid has had very little luck on the injury front in his time in red and white, but he didn’t miss an AFL match in 2019. He’s played 143 career games at the top level for a return of 154 goals.

DOB: 27 December 1991
DEBUT: 2010
DRAFT: #38, 2009 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Wangaratta Rovers (Vic)/Murray U18

Hopefully Horse leaves him in the forward line for the entire game. Although with Rampe out chances of that diminished even more.
Melican, AA, Maibaum, Laids, Newman & Talia all pretty good depth/cover in Defence. Forward options/depth though are more limited though IMO so keeping Reid fwd (where he performs) would make more sense I reckon... Let the other blokes plug the holes down back.

Jesus Horse seems intent on making us as flat-tracked and predictable as possible based on the Port game. Throws Reid in defence despite him causing Port's defenders all kinds of headaches, and I imagine he's probably going to play Aliir and Laidler and maybe even Melican or Maibaum in defence. I hope he remembers we're in 2017, not the 90's when all defenders were tall and played one on one. What impressed me most about Reid is that he looked to have clicked almost straight away. My biggest complaint about him is that every time he's come back from a long lay-off he's been rusty and taken weeks just to find his best form. This time he seemed to just fall right back into the swing of things

He had a really solid 2015 after the Freo game and before doing his hammy in the finals.
Missed all of last year. Came back and was good again.
No need to wait a month, he has already proven himself.

I was first to put my hand and say he stuck it up me but it was 1 game ffs

What bout all the games he has done nothing in

Very happy with his game , let's see how he handles the dogs
That's it , but you have to say he gives us what Tippett doesn't

Think we will have to live with the fact that Franklin is the only one of the 3 that is reliable week in week out.

Wouldn't be surprised if it swaps and Reid gets 5 touches and Tippett kicks 4 goals this week.

Dunno he looked like he belonged, not that wishy washy crap, happy to take shots and move around

Have we ever had all 3 kick even 2 goals in the same game

Reid Franklin and Tippett have only all kicked 2 or more goals in the same game once

They have all played 29 games together of a possible 75

In those games

Buddy averages 16.1ppg. And 3.25 goals
Tippett. 11.8 ppg and 2.11 goals
Reid. 11.6ppg. And 0.64 goals

If i counted correctly

There are none so blind as those who will not see...
