Sam Reid

Sam Reid’s outstanding athleticism and strong contested grab make him a genuine threat inside 50. The 2012 premiership forward showed exactly that when he booted six goals in the Sydney Swans’ clash with Collingwood in Mark Grook at the SCG to win the 2019 Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal. The 2009 draftee can also play as a loose man in defence or pinch-hit in the ruck. Reid has had very little luck on the injury front in his time in red and white, but he didn’t miss an AFL match in 2019. He’s played 143 career games at the top level for a return of 154 goals.

Sam Reid
DOB: 27 December 1991
DEBUT: 2010
DRAFT: #38, 2009 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Wangaratta Rovers (Vic)/Murray U18

I don’t understand why they don’t play him at CHB. Played there as a junior and actually went well when he was down there tonight.

Oh I know why, Longmire thought...’gee Reidy’s looking alright at CHB, he can fill a need at CHF I reckon’! Don’t blame the players, blame the ****ing conductor!

I'd like to remind you that Longmire doesn't pick the players.

There's a match committee who pick the players for him.

To be honest I'm not actually sure what a 'head coach' actually does, but it seems to be a lot of money for doing literally nothing.

Collects the premiership cup

I’d like to remind you that he is the chairman of the match committee and that he has overarching control of said committee. Now this is actually a question that I asked my source a couple of years ago at the MCG when Gary Rohan and Keiren Jack decided that the Tigers were beatable.

He said and I quote ‘all match decisions come under the authority of John’! I remember it like it was yesterday. So now you’ve piped up with that, you can now pipe down!

Think there was a lot of sarcasm missed

My anonymous source says the exact opposite.

So what do we do now?

Reid can't play defence. Not physical enough.

Plays up forward where he can lead away from his defender or on the wing where he can run around without an opponent.

play him in the neafl and just let blakey and mccartin develop

tired of him doing nothing

Look he wasn’t great, dropped way too many marks and missed gettable shots, but he did get 16 disposals which is some 25% higher than his career average, so did “nothing” seems a bit off the mark...

McCartin played most of the game up forward and was pretty ineffective himself...

He also has been playing relief ruck, so which one of Blakey or McCartin would you sacrifice for that task?

He has under delivered, we can all concede that. Sending him back to the NEAFL though I think is a bit short sighted however. He might be no good, but he would still be best 22. That probably says quite a lot about our best 22, but it is what it is.

delisting him isnt an option sadly

you are right though

hopefully he can bump up his trade value

My source isn’t anonymous, just unnamed. I’ve mentioned they are a board member and here I am mentioning it again.
Sorry Mick but according to the Oxford English dictionary

Anonymous = (of a person) not identified by name. Unnamed.

So your supposed source is indeed anonymous, it's just your English that's lacking.

Or were you being a bit sarcastic too ? As you said earlier though, one can't be sure. There are a lot of ******s on here.

Not anonymous to me, unnamed by me...there you go, that better sweet pea?

You do pedal some peculiar notions King. I find it strange how one can develop a completely irrational dislike towards a particular player (naturally I'm assuming he didn't bang your nearest and dearest as it would then be a perfectly rational to dislike the player). Blakey and McCartin simply aren't in Reid's league, but let's hope one day they get that far.
