would of had clement higher but other than that it was a fair crack. It' s funny looking back. I remember thinking Adam Iacobucci was gonna be a star because he dominated in AFL live 2005.

I just want to say I fully support your first 3 rankings, and your assessment of Anthony Rocca. Here is a gift to this thread - my favourite premiership pic.:)

2gsg461.jpg

1. Nathan Buckley
2. Dane Swan
3. Alan Didak
4. James Clement
5. Scott Pendlebury
6. Anthony Rocca
7. Scott Burns
8. Paul Licuria
9. Simon Prestigiacomo
10. Chris Tarrant

These lists are so subjective, you can choose either quality of years or quantative.

Didak has to be in top 3, has played practically the whole decade, i'd argue for him to be even higher than Swan, Didak has been so good for so long.

Pendlebury has just dominated and his season this year, was enough for a top 5 birth, complemented by his last 4 seasons.

Couple of the older boys round out the rest of the top 10, maxwell stiff but i think we under esimate taz and how good he was.

My top 5 for 2000-2010...

1, Anthony Rocca - from '00 until his retirement in '09, was very important.
2, Nathan Buckley - his best was in the late '90s, but still top 2.
3, Dane Swan - dominant last few seasons.
4, Paul Licuria - dominated the early '00s when we were challenging.
5, James Clement - backline general of a dominant Magpie side.

1 - Nathan Buckley (Won a brownlow in this past decade, will go down as one of our greatest champions and a legend of the game)
2 - James Clement (Simply an amazing footballer. Wouldve been Captain after Bucks had he stayed on)
3 - Dane Swan (exceeded my every expectation and has just become a magnificent player...imagine if bucks was in his prime now...)
4 - Scotty Burns (Typified what collingwood is, honest, tough and hard working)
5 - Alan Didak (Simply sublime, has genuinely gotten better with age)
6 - Anthony Rocca (A man mountain if ever there was one. He was a terrific loyal servant of the club, some people forget how much he impacted the game. Nobody kicks them from 70 out like Pebbles)
7 - Paul Licuria (he just complimented the midfield perfectly, was a great club man and is collingwood through and through)
8 - Simon Prestigiacomo (It never ceases to amaze me how this bloke has been able to adapt through rule changes, completely ignores the supposed hurdles that age inevitably causes and still manages to towel up Johnathen Brown consistently. Love the human glove)
9 - Chris Tarrant (Never wanted him to leave, incredibly talented player who did so much for us during his first stint. Now the prodigal son returns..)
10 - Josh Fraser (Im prepared to cop it a bit for this, but this man was such a great servant of the club during his tenure...He played a role that he probably never shouldve and there isnt a doubt in my mind that he gave everything for the club)

The saddest thing about looking at that list of real champions of our club is that only two of them have Premiership medals to show for their service... Which really is a massive shame

great list , well compiled. some constructive suggestions.

guy richards deserves to be at the top of the dud list. was serviceable.

rusling & dick, on talent shown, closer to the 40 mark.

heath scotland into the 30's, worked hard in the bad years.

medhurst moved up to 30, above caracella & lonie. won games for us.

darren jolly - how to rate a guy with one season who finally got rolling from mid season, of the premiership year. i say 30, but a repeat of this year and he's top 10.

pendlebury into the top 5. quality of possession from day 1 counts in my book.

didak above swan. didak has had long term quality, and improved consistency year on year. swan the opposite - consistency overtaken by quality finally this year.

dont despair on the dud section - every club has them, and the pies did have some bad years. very few there RIGHT NOW is the highlight.

the most even spread of talent in a premier team is very rare.

and lol at Licuria at 7. Licuria is bottom 5, if he even makes the list at all. Most overrated player in Collingwood's history.

Way harsh. Can understand subjectively people not liking a particular player but take a step back, he was the grease, oil petrol to Buckley's engine room.

If by petrol, you mean one of the worst disposers of the football our club has seen, then yes, he was the petrol to Buckley's engine room.

I post in the extreme, because those who love Licuria overrate him so highly I have to balance it out.

Did you catch the 2002 Qualifying Final when Licuria was the petrol AND the engine?

He's not Top 10, but to discredit him completely is just plain silly and a little bit disrespectful to a Copeland Trophy winner in a Grand Final year. :thumbsd:

I will never forget the game he had against Port in the qualifying final in '02. Licuria single handedly won us the game. He was ubiquitous that day, a massive amount of 40 disposals, he was all over the ground, an unbelievable display. He might of had some faults but I haven't seen many Collingwood players doing that.

Maxwell is top 5 for mine (below)...just his leadership and inspiration qualities are amazing and invaluable.

1. Buckley
2. Swan
3. Didak
4. Pendlebury
5. Maxwell

Terrible call.

Clement has Maxwell covered by the length of the Nullabor.

I like Maxwell, but if Clement misses your five... you are way too focussed on current players.

or maybe Premiership Captains get extra weighting.

which is fine, you know, because they won premierships.

I'm looking forward to calling us the Premiers for a minimum of another 11 months.

My top 5

1- Buckley
2- Swan
3- Clement
4- Burns
5- Didak

For mine... right players... slightly diff order.

1. Buckley
2. Clement
3. Burns
4. Didak (got us to through that final in port adelaide off his boot, so many times he kept us in games)
5. Swan

I would almost be tempted to put A. Rocca in place of swannie... only coz of your criteria being 2000's. Swanny has only come good the last 3 yrs. Before that he was a fringe that almost got axed. I guess you could argue that he single handedly got us to a grand final with his performances throughtout the year (or more to the point, would we have even made it to the GF let alone won it if we didnt have him in the side all year)

So yeh saying all that, im happy with those 5.

I just can't believe someone would say this about licca especially a fellow pie :(
If by bottom 5 you mean top 5 then i agree :)
