MEDIA RELEASE FROM THE AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE
The 2002 AFL Grand Final Parade will be held through the streets of the City of Melbourne this Friday, September 27.
The Parade will commence at 12.15pm in St Kilda Road, adjacent to the Victoria Arts Centre, travel north into Swanston Street, before turning right into Collins Street.
The Parade will conclude at approximately 12.50pm with the presentation of the teams to the public on the steps of the Treasury Building.
Following the Parade, the coaches and captains of both teams will attend the official 2002 Pre-Match Media Conference. This conference will be telecast live by the Fox Footy Channel.
Important Media Notes
1. Only Media with official AFL 2002 season accreditation will be admitted inside the barriers along the parade route. Media who do not have AFL accreditation will be kept behind the barriers with the public.
2. The camera stand on the steps of Treasury Building is for the exclusive use of the Fox Footy Channel. All other crews and photographers will have to remain at ground level in front of the steps of the Treasury Building (ie; in front of the public barriers and shooting up at the teams), and will not be able to stand on the steps of the building and block the public view.
3. Space for television crews at the media conference will be at a premium if crews travel from Brisbane with the Lions. Preference for crew spots will be given to sports news crews from Melbourne and Brisbane, ahead of general news crews and crews from other states. As such, news departments need to be aware it is possible they will have to obtain footage from their sports crews, or the Fox Footy Channel telecast, if a number of Queensland organisations travel to Melbourne with the Lions for the Parade.
