Doesn't appear to have any correlation with ladder position.

I think these stats are influenced by the type of game plan teams play, which will influence things like set shots v non set shots, kicks from outside 50 v picks from inside 50 and rushed behinds.

So whilst the stats are useful, I think we need more information to really take any useful conclusions out of them!

Cheers

Freo defintiely would have won more games last year if we kicked straight (Mr Croad and Mr Farmer come on downnn!).

So in our case and maybe the Bullies it was just a case of **** poor kicking.

And the saints have Reiwoldt, the power have Tredrea. where would they be if they could kick well everytime.

Interesting stats there Xie.

I'm amazed that the Bulldogs had 15 more scoring shots than Port and 59 more than Pies.

So we have no difficulty in scoring we just allow the others to score more, more often.

Do you have stats on goals and behinds conceded?

Ground conditions would also be a factor in both number of shots taken and success rate achieved.

No, mate, not on the same site.
I will try and look for them, though.

Xie, does this mean that the teams who are higher up on this ladder are the ones with better defences or not necessarilly??

The higher the teams are placed, the fewer scoring shots they conceded throughout the duration of the 2002 home and away season. So, yeah, basically the ladder determines how good a teams defence was in 2002.

Well, i think i have every right to be ****ed off.

Clearly, St.Kilda had the best attack in 2002 and the 13th worst defence, therefore we should have finished 7th!!! Well? I want justice damnit. :D

Those goalkicking stats only relate to which team made the most of their opportunities in front of goal.
For instance Brisbane had 680 shots for goal as opposed to StKildas 460 and therfore created more opportunities in front of goal and most of the time that is what will win you games

I think its a measure of defensive midfield play (ie. the halfback & centre line), because the main reason there would be less scoring shots is because the opposition aren't close enough to get a ping at goal.

Either that or it indicates the sides that were most often having to counter their opposition's defensive flooding.

Didn't think Riewoldt was as bad as Tredrea, but snapshot Milney had a big say in the Saints leading that particular stat.

Nicks had worse accuracy this year than all of Tredrea's seasons bar one (2000), so he isnt too good so far.

Fair enough, the stats don't lie and his 6-2 in rd 22 saved him from a below 50% conversion.

Here's an interesting one

Stewy Loewe kicked 70-26 in his last 3 seasons at 72%
better than dead eye **** Steven Milne at 71%
in the same period Matthew Lloyd kicked 68%

Yep there is hope for everyone.

Dew kicked 27.35 in 1999

From 2000-02 he kicked 115.52

Obviously it can change quickly.
