Maybe we can make some predictions then?

I predict the FooFighters will be really average live like they always are?

I predict that Queens of the Stoneage will be pretty boring like they were a few years ago, but still worth the effort fo seeing live?

I predict the Deftones will farken blitz at the Palace and be the best of the lot this summer and make the world a great place to live again?

I predict Janes Addiciton will be really drug f*cked when they take the stage but will still put on an awesome show, all though sadly they are playing on the same night as the Deftones so i will have to take other people's words for it?

I predict silverchair will be awesome live (again).

Whoosh!

If you see a show in 2003, review it here. I started it yesterday because there are obvious events like Summadayze (sic) on today.

No problem dude, as soon as the Foo Fighters concert is over I'll rush home drag this thread up and give everyone a detailed review

The Falls was awesome, band highlights that I can remember include:
Grinspoon - one of my fav bands, got the best reception of any band there.
Jet - Interesting style, thought they played ok.
The Stalkers - Thought they were pretty good, had never seen them before.
1200 Techniques - got the crowd going
For Amusement Only - really like this band, they played a good set.
The Vandals - the less said about the end of their set the better.
Black Eyed Peas - don't like them at all, yet they were the band playing at 12 on the 31st... not sure why they were the chosen ones.
The Ataris - good set, even though they only played for about half the time they were meant to because BEP ran 30 mins overtime...

All in all it was a good festival, despite the weather. Plenty of alcohol, plenty of music, and plenty of fun.

Yeah, I've always wanted to go to the Falls as it seems like an ideal festival: camp out, watch some music, celebrate the new year and sleep in the next morning - all in the one place!

What did The Vandals do? The Black Eyed Peas were headlining as the big international act, although Jack Johnson would have been more worthy.

Ill do a review on Welcome 2003 and Summadayze...ill rate the guys i saw outta 10 too.

Welcome 2003 review:

First person i saw was Gavin Martin who played to a small crowd on the main stage from 9 till 11. He was bloody brilliant...almost the best dj i saw all night. Played a ripper of a bangin techno set with the last 30 minutes being some bloody fine harder progressive house. Ive never heard anything like that at an Adelaide rave before, and its my faouvirte type of music so i found it to be awesome. (9.5)

Timo Maas was next and he was top class. He played his brand of wierd progressive house mixed with a bit of trance as well. He had some excellent tunes going. He played thru midnight...and just after the midnight countdown come the waaaooo waaaooo waaaooo waaooo of my favourite ever song Doomsnight. So i went nuts and my head nearly exploded from musical pleasure...as it was totally unexpected he would play that. Only saw about 80 minutes of his set. The best part were his breakdowns and especially his buildups. The buildups went for a fairly long time and when the beat kicked back in the dancefloor went crazy. (8)

Moved to see the last 40 mins of Nick Sentience at the Bass Station room as im a big fan of his bass driven hard house. He didnt dissapoint. Had the crowd at the Bass room moving and jumping and played two or three of my favourite tunes of his while i was there! (7.5)

Mark James was next on the main stage and the time i saw him he was pretty good. Mixed between different genres of music (breakbeat and tek mainly). (7.5)

Next came CJ Bolland who was bloody awesome. Their brand of pumpin bangin techno got the whole main dance floor moving and didnt dissapoint with their live set. Lots of farkin around on the knobs (which i love). Played the Profit as their last track...which was magnificent. (8)

Saw a short time of Sister Bliss and she was dissapointing. Played very scratchy trance and didnt get me going at all. Found what i heard of her set to be quite boring actually (3)

Sean Quinn came on after that and played the best set of the night. Some great buildups, some awesome bassy tunes and he looked like he was loving it as well. Couldnt find fault in his set (10)

Kasey Taylor...my fave Aussie DJ...only got to see 25-30 mins of his set as a mate got sick and felt like crap so we left. However in that 25 minutes he played the best music of the night. A tad harder progressive house...some very nice tunes...and i was mighty ****ed off that i had to leave halfway thru what would of been the best set of the night. (9)

Summadayze:

Showed up just as Kasey Taylor was starting which made me happy as i missed half his welcome set. Got to the front dancefloor and went crazy as he played what was the best individual set ive heard. The last 30 minutes where he cranked it out was awesome (10)

Sat back down for Jason Midro who im not a big fan of, but his anthem trance got the dancefloor moving and sounded alright (6)

Mark James was next and i enjoyed his progressive/tek/breakbeat set immensly. (7)

Then came Basement Jaxx...who everyone rushed to the front for (and cos of the sprinkling of rain). Pity they were terrible. Wasnt actual Basement Jaxx...but the DJs playing a DJ set. Played this predictable crappy boring pop house set. Only saw 30 minutes of it before Phil K started...but my mates that saw their whole set said it got worse as it wore on. (2)

Phil K...now there was a killer set. First 30 minutes was full on progressive house but with a breakbeat which sounded awesome. The rest was a more old school set with plenty of scratching. Almost as good as Kaseys set. (9.5)

Went back to the mainstage and caught the last hour of Graham Golds set who played a nice trancey set (7)

Then came Sean Quinn...whos set was average compared to his Welcome set...but was good all the same (7.5)

I saw Ozomatli last night at a sold out Corner Hotel. Very cool!

The lights go down.......the DJ stops playing.........and Ozomatli enter through the front door belting cow bells, snare drums, bongos, djembes, tambourines, and blasting away on trumpets, trombones and whatever else the 10 or 11 or so of them could get their hands on. They then made their way slowly through the crowd and around the room a few times (still blasting and belting away with the crowd cheering and dancing around them) before they eventually made it on to the stage and played the funkiest set I've ever seen. (and then grabbed their assortment of "things to belt" and made their way back through the crowd, stopping in each part of the room for a good 5mins or so, and back to the front door...)

For those who don't know, Ozomatli are a blend of funky latin american grooves and hip-hop. (and are from Los Angeles) Brass section, percussion, turntables, funky bass player, funkier drummer, electric and spanish guitars, lots of singers/rappers etc etc

More than worth seeing. The best show I've been to in years, and a nice start to the new year. :)

Prediction : PEGAZUS will tear Melbourne's metal scene a new arseh*le on February 1 (at the Central Club, Richmond), and all you c*nts will be too soft to go along and witness it for yourselves.

Hey, I might well go see Johnny Stog and the boys that night. I've never seen Pegazus before.

Carlos: So Jane's Addiction are back together? With Perry? And touring Australia? **** yeah!
