And why will Geelong perform worse in 2005 than 2004 with a more experienced list and James Kelly back into the side?

Geez all you needed was Richmond in the top 4 and this is joke of the year - worst attempt at ladder predicting so far. All the teams in bold are either off to way off (way off being hawthorn sydney melbourne and north.)
Hawks will be 12th to 16th as they are a rabble atm off field and on, Crows wont win the spoon (probably 10th-12th) Sydney are a well coached average side who deserve no more than 6th-10th, Essendon are consistent (consistently average 7th-12th) Collingwood are shaky and probably in the same boat as Adelaide, Melbourne are smokies depending on this offseason (4th-12th) and shinboners rarely finish higher than 7th but lower than 10th.
Stop playing with yourself and lose the Bias then maybe you can come back and have a crack at this.

Besides how can anyone predict a ladder without seeing the draw, the offseason trading and injuries during the preseason. Complete garbage.

Yep.. am liking this one. Dogs will rise and be the unexpected team. A bit like Carlton this year. West Coast may still be a bit high (have them around 8th)

1. Brisbane
2. St Kilda
3. Port
4. Geelong
5. Sydney
6. West Coast
7. Essendon

15. Bulldogs

syd swan, i'm not sure whats more outrageous - hawthorn in the 8, or the crows on the bottom.

i can assure you that the crows WILL NOT win the wooden spoon next year. hawthorn would have to win 13 games next season to finish 6th, minimum - think about it....

at the very very best, hawthorn could scrape into 8th with 10 wins, 1 draw and 11 losses. and even then we've had better lists in the past whove only managed that much.

1. Port Adelaide (they got 1st this year and i can only see there list improving with Primus, Francou to come back in)
2. St Kilda (this is there best chance at a stint at the flag, otherwise salary cap pressures shud hurt them, need a consistent ruckman really)
3. West Coast (Youngsters will take the next step, Improvements needed in McDougall, Staker, Need a CHB to challenge for a flag)
4. Sydney (Like Port Adelaide i see there list only improving, Sydney can do some big spending in the trade and gain a few players to fill the gaps)
5. Geelong (I think we have seen the best of Geelong, there depth is a concern, if Steve King, Scarlett or Harley went down they would struggle badly, need a forward line to go any higher then they are)
6. Collingwood (less injuries, Didak in the midfield, Fraser out of the ruck will lead to a better year)
7. Brisbane (will fall away with the retirements of alot of players, wont be able to place Lynch who is there most important player)
8. Western Bulldogs (got a good bunch of youngsters to come in, need a CHB to stand up to send Grant forward to get 8th)
9. Essendon (team wont change much at all, leaving them to hover around 9 like they usually, will only make up the numbers again)
10. Fremantle (no forward line to speak off, no depth whatsoever, will spend the year trying a new forward line and some youngsters)
11. Melbourne (too many players will leave, not a hell of alot of depth, will struggle in the midfield once Jeff White is stopped)
12. Carlton (not enough stars and got lucky this year with a few fluke wins, still no where close to top 8)
13. Kangaroos (no forward line or defence, lucky this year with Rocca in good form, wont last, if Coldbert hangs around they cud go higher)
14. Richmond (they will improve with the new coach)
15. Hawthorn (midfield is not good enugh, team relies on Everitt too much)
16. Adelaide (they just plain suck at every aspect of the game, way too old, youngsters are weak and untalented)

Gee I caused a bit of a stir with my predictions, but who's to say it can't end up that way. Who would of picked Geelong and Melbourne in the top 5 this year. Hawthorn was touted as a possible premiership contender along with Collingwood this year. So strange things do happen, Hawthorn won't have a huge player turnover this year, and if they can add a couple of class players I don't see why they can't be big improvers. Adelaide in my opinion has got a very poor list and I just can't see them improving. Sydney will recruit a couple of high class players and that may be all they will need to take the next step. I think Geelong can't get any better and they may have over achieved a bit this year, and if they don't get a key forward, I can only see them going backwards.

Outs:

Tallis
Graham
McCabe
Barlow
Picioane
Cox

that's 15% of our list already! never mind who we might trade for low picks in the draft, not to mention players we might delist after trade week.

Surely you can't count Graham, Picioane and Cox as losses. Who ever you replace those 3 with will only improve your side.

i really hope that you have the bulldogs 15th and not freo, honestly i can't see a non-vic side finishing bottom 4. and once again a prediction with essendon missing the 8...tsk tsk tsk when will people learn.

not necessarily in the short term. 300+ games of experience amongst that trio

What is it with everyone automatically thinking Geelong are going to improve next year??? Way I see it they played well and above themselves and it will be extremely unlikely they will be anywhere near as good next year. History is littered with sides like Geelong who have 1 decent season and then fall back into mediocrity again. I look at the Geelong side on paper and wonder how the hell they ever got any wins at all.

Ted Pellitts said:
ok, i am not going to predict my ladder until i at least see the draw, but i can give you two certainties right now.

Essendon minimum 10 wins
how?
1 possibly 2 over Hawthorn
1 possibly 2 over Richmond
1 possibly 2 over Bulldogs
1 possibly 2 over Collingwood (1 loss to the pies since 99)
1 over Fremantle provided they meet in melbourne
1 over Adelaide provided they meet in melbourne

thats 10 already - plus upsets which they often come up with (port this year for example)

Crows minimum 6 wins

you heard it here first.

Collingwood beat Essendon in 2002, and 2003. Thats 2 wins over Essendon.

Collingwood at 15? why?

Waaaay too early for this thread but stuff it, here go's:

1. St.Kilda (next step)
2. Port (strong team)
3. Geelong (backing up 2004)
4. Brisbane (4 cups can be taxing...)
5. W.Coast (riding off Judd)
6. Melbourne (shake the hoodoo)
7. Sydney (bore teams into losing)
8. Carlton (another Pagan masterstroke)
9. Essendon (bummers out)
10. Fremantle (drop off - coach gone)
11. Collingwood (dreaming of 2002-03....still)
12. Bulldogs (improvement under Eade)
13. Richmond (Wallace time)
14. Hawthorn (lucky to avoid another spoon)
15. Adelaide (list in disarray)
16. North (done and dusted)

Don't rip into it too greatly as it's still too early!!! :D

No, thats 4 already. They may not play all of those teams twice, and they may not play Freo or Adelaide in Melbourne. And they may not beat the Pies twice.

Whoops yeh..had Fremantle there twice :o

Really its too hard to predict now...perhaps early next year would be a better time to predict?

I just wish I had money back at the start of 2001 that Brisbane were going to win 3 (perhaps 4) Premierships in a row! Who could have predicted that....???

Gee this is fun:

1 St Kilda (Great list, surely even cornflakes can't hold them back)
2 Port Adelaide (Another consistent year, retirements/form may put pressure on backline)
3 Geelong (Good young list, will be right up there again)
4 Brisbane (Possible slippage, midfield may start slowing down (with all the SCC money in their pockets :D))
5 West Coast (More consistent year with Gardiner back and some youngsters developing)
6 Adelaide (Depends on recruiting well (for a change), but Craig should be able to lift them)
7 Collingwood (Finals or bust for MM and the Edster)
8 Essendon (A rebuilding year with more youth blooded)
-----------------
9 Melbourne (Mixed bag, depends on the team clicking like they did 1st half 2004)
10 Sydney (Not sure where improvement will come from in '05)
11 Carlton (Still another 1-2 years away from challenging for the finals)
12 Kangaroos (Retirements to hurt the 'roos, Laidley's last year?)
13 Fremantle (Unfortunately for CC performances will slip back. Team will remember how to lose interstate)
14 Hawthorn (Would like to see a lift, but too much going on off-field for my liking)
15 Richmond (Minor improvements, but in full blown redevelopment mode)
16 Western Bulldogs (Ouch, bring back Rhode! No excuses, but no good, More time needed)

Coaches to get the arse:
Chris Connolly
Dean Laidley (a pity, seems like a great bloke)
Mick Malthouse (if the pies finish lower than 9th)
