His a great kick, get a clue
Birchall? Has he had a decent disposal yet? Didn't think so.

Not during the 20 odd games I've seen him play. Definitely not in the top 5 from the 2005 draft.
I'm an Essendon fan myself but I watch a lot of football and attend a fair few hawks games a year with a mate of mine. His definitely one of the better users of the ball in their side. He had something like 83% efficiency by foot last season and a lot of his kicks are setting up play not just chip sideways types. I would feel safe with him coming out of defense.
On Pat Ryder in this draft. I Honestly dont think I would take anyone over him for the bombers future . His last few weeks have been brilliant, just seems to be improving with each week. I think he will eventually be released into the ruck or up Forward where his freak athleticism's will be at full use. I think he would be an excellent CHF, but Gumbleton probably looks likely to be in that future role. Will be great to watch him develop.

Going to be interesting to see whether he moves to the midfield (as I believe he wants) or takes more important defensive roles (he's the same height as Roughead no reason the club couldn't bulk him up a little and play him on bigger players). Despite his rebounding he seems to beat his opponent every week.4. Birchall (needs to play more inside to really bridge the gap)

- Andrew Swallow - dropped and still can't kick
after 8 rounds into season 2008, i've made some modifications to how i would draft the players if they were all up for selection today, bear in mind this does not mean i am putting them in order of who has shown the most so far but who i think will offer the most from this point onwards:
1-murphy (1)
2-pendlebury (5)
3-ryder (7)
4-thomas (2)
5-kennedy (4)
6-birchall (14)
7-jones (12)
8-hurn (13)
9-higgins (11)
10-bower (20)
bower better than stokes.....i dont think so.
i'd say out of that whole draft, stokes has produced just about the most out of anybody. consistently plays well, he's a gun. he'd be at No.1 for me.
