BUMP!

Kennedy.
Murphy.
Hurn.
Birchall.
Jones.
Pendlebury.
Higgins.
Ryder.

In these 8 players, this draft year is still yet to be concluded.

I can see Pendlebury as being the sole survivor of this crop.

Didn’t Higgins sign a 2 year deal at Geelong?

Expect StKilda will want Ryder to continue playing as he’s one of their most important players.

JPK will get offered a 1 year deal you expect just depends on whether or not he takes it.

JPK is Hawthorn and Sydney.

JJK is Carlton and West Coast.

JJK was drafted in 2005.

Of those, I think this is the end for Murphy, Jones and maybe Birchall. If Higgins didn't have another year on him he'd probably be done, too. Hurn, Kennedy and Ryder probably play on for another year but I'm skeptical of their longer-term longetivity. Pendlebury I thought could've gone on until he was 36/37 but apart from the QB clash has been pretty average this year so the end might be coming quickly.

1 (1) Marc Murphy
2 (5) Scott Pendlebury
3 (2) Dale Thomas
4 (12) Nathan Jones
5 (13) Shannon Hurn
6 (7) Patrick Ryder
7 (42) Robert Warnock
8 (11) Shaun Higgins
9 (14) Grant Birchall
10 (15) Travis Varcore
11 (43) Andrew Swallow
12 (61) Matthew Stokes
13 (33) Sam Gilbert
14 (60) Clint Bartram
15 (9) Mitch Clark
16 (4) Josh Kennedy
17 (3) Xavier Ellis
18 (36) Jake Edwards
19 (10) Marcus Drum
20 (41) Rhan Hooper

Found it alot harder then i thought it would be but if you dont see it being right make your own i know a few Hawthorn supporters will fine this interesting

‘And now?

A best 22 of the draft class:

FB: Duffield - A Carlile - Birchall
HB: Hurn - Spangher - K Jack
MF: Murphy - Priddis - Pendlebury
HF: Thomas - Clark - Varcoe
FF: Porplyzia - Kennedy - Stokes
OB: Ryder - Jones - Swallow
IC: Gilbert - Higgins - Vince - McGlynn

That midfield is stacked but the KPP's aren't great.

Don’t really think Swallow was an effective player. Would have all of Patful, Higgins and Jack ahead of him.
Patfull wasn't in this draft class, he was previously at Port. Higgins was 50/50 but no to Jack.

Not that bad of a draft I don't think. Did produce some damn good players. Think a lot of them seemed to really fly for a couple of years (Murphy, Hurn, Jack, Swallow, Daisy - to say nothing of the Gilbert's and the Clark's of the world) but weren't that consistent across their careers, which only really Pendles, JJK and Birchall managed.

Marc Murphy was over rated

One truly elite season in 2011 but pretty average there after

Not sure how the Porpoise can be included as he was originally on Adelaide's list in 2003.
I knew Patfull was on Port’s list prior to making his name at Brisbane, but had completely forgotten about Porplyzia.

So yeah, he shouldn’t be there. Well spotted!

And then, there were 2.

Pendles and Hurn.

Ryder, Kennedy and Higgins bowing out at the end of 2022 and Murphy and Birchall doing likewise in 2021.
Poor old Nathan Jones. As ignored in posterity as he was during his career :(

BUMP!

And, now, only one will play on in 2024. (Pendles.)

One by one, there'll be no players left from my time in high school.
