Get out the 2006 Carlton Playing List (if you don't have it go on the internet and get it) and put down your 2006 Carlton Dreamteam.
Here's mine:

2006 Carlton Dreamteam
B: Carrazzo, Livingston, Wiggins
HB: Thornton, Saddington, Teague
C: Simpson, Scotland, Walker
HF: Houlihan, Koutoufides, Fevola
F: Betts, Whitnall, Lappin
Foll: French, Stevens, Bentick
I/C: McLaren, O'Ailpin, Fisher, Russell, Dowler
Em: Bryan, Deluca, Chambers

*Please Note: I couldn't fit Fisher and Dowler on the same team. I want to eventually have a 6 or 7 man interchange bench.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor Waitey!!!! Sorry guys. I can't believe I left him out.........that's the worst mistake I've ever done. I put Dowler in there because I think he would be a handy equision.

Good thing your not on the selection panel.......

Wiggins in the back pocket - tries hard but struggles..

No Jarrad Waite??

What about the draftee's - Murphy, Kennedy/Ryder - would the nbr 1 pick not get a game with the wooden spooners?

Fevola on a half forward flank?

Come on lift your game!

Would be nice to actually spell their names right!

Whitnal?
Houlahan?
Murphey?
Livingstone?
O'Hailplin?

I'll cut you some slack on Kouta though!

Yeah I thought it was more on the mark and certainly Mark Murphy would play from round 1. I agree that Houlihan is questionable in the forward line although he has not progressed as we would have liked in the back half. I'd be interested in your thoughts but I think this is make or break for Houla - he needs to have a bid pre-season in a bid to rotate through the midfield then going forward. We know he is skillful however I have noticed that late in games he can turn the ball over because his fitness level is not high and skills drop away.

I'd be tempted to play Walker on a HBF to ease the pressure on him at this stage of his career. He is a great mark and would add some rebound to the team. He would also get taken to the ball by his opponent.

Already a post on 2006 CFC team mate. Look at Round 1 2006 thread that I started. No need to double up.

HBF would be good for walker, i wanted to see him there all year long but it didn't happen

What! I cannot believe you have Waite as an Emergency!!!!! It is highly probable that 2006 will see Waite as our Focal point at CHF?

nah you wont, maybe o hailpin but not waite
Oh yes I think we will, we has all the attributes - taller than Whitnall, very quick, has good hands and a good footy brain. Carey said towards the end of this season that he could see Waite becoming our next CHF.

O'Hailpin cannot be expected to come into the senior team and play in the most important position on the ground - he will be more suited to a HBF picking up the 3rd opposition tall and pinch hitting in the ruck.

I hope you don't mind if an opposition supporter has a go. My cousin plays for Carlton so they are like my second team.

Whitnall Saddington Carazzo
Some of you may be questioning Whitnall, but IMO he should be the 3rd tall in defence, whether that be BP/HBF and give a licence to zone off and read the play, and back him to do more damage than the 3rd tall. Wasn't sure out of Saddington and Thornton who is FB/CHB, I suppose it depends on matchups, but to me they are both FB. Kouta could be another option at CHB.
Lappin Thornton Teague
Shouldn't be too much questioning on this line, dont have many other options.
Murphy Kouta Simpson
Murphy should be AFL ready and should slot in to the Carlton midfield right away. Assuming Kouta can, he should start on ball and become an impact player, who can play all over the ground. Simpson should continue his development, should become a very good player next year.
Walker Waite Fisher
In 2007 Walker should become a regular on baller, but he will be used here and there next year, which may hinder his development. In 2007 Dowler will become a very good HFF. Shouldn't have to justify Waite and Fisher, they are both guns.
Betts Fevola Davies
Good balance up forward IMO. Betts doesn't get much of the ball, but doesn't need to, to justify his place in the side. 1 or 2 goals a game will be more than acceptable with limited service. You all know about Fevola. Davies who wasn't played nearly enough last year, works his ass off, when the opposition has the ball, chases and tackles very well, and you need that in a forwardline. Hope Pagan gives him more of a go next year.
French Stevens Bentick
IMO French is a better player than McLaren, but that is debateable. Stevens is class and Bentick looked very good towards the end of last year.

McGrath, Scotland, Livingston, McLaren
Just think they are the next best 4 players, again you could make a case for just about the rest of the squad, but thats who I would choose.

Hmm when you sit back and look at it it doesn't look too bad on paper, still needs a lot of work with the back-half though but I think its reasonable to expect around 6-8 wins next season.

Wiggins is a hack. He won't be good enough to make the team next year.
