F: Schneider O'Loughlin Davis

Fol: Jolly Kirk Williams

Int/Emg: Spriggs, McVeigh, Dempster, Chambers, Doyle, Bevan, Mathews

Also, your thoughts for captain???
Kirk or Hall

Hall will probly get it but I would like to see goodes get it because he puts his guts into every game and is in very good form.

I liked your lineup Blue Swan Pity we dont have Peter Everitt forward pocket or in the ruck.... Captain= cant go past barry hall a Premiership captain, but it doesnt worry me who gets it!

Here's what i'd like to see (won't necessarily be the case)

Backs
Richards Barry Crouch
C.Bolton LRT Dempster

Centre
Goodes J.Bolton Kennelly

Forwards
Vogels Hall O'Keefe
Buchanan O'Loughlin Davis

Rucks
Kirk Ablett Jolly

Bench
Schnieder Williams Chambers Malceski

This gives us:
- Plenty of height (and speed across the back six)
- Two penetrating, skilfull and quick wingmen
- A good combo of tall and mobile forwards, with plenty of defensive pressure to be applied
- A ruckman, dangerous forward/ midfielder, experienced and skilled utility and talented and highly skilled young player all on the bench
- A good combo of youth and experience i.e. we can contnue to develop Vogels, Dempster, Ablett, Jolly, LRT and Malceski while still having a few experienced bodies across each line (Backs: Barry, Bolton and Crouch/ Midfield: Kirk and Bolton/ Forwards: Hall, O'Loughlin and O'Keefe)

I would love to see this line up in 2006 - would give us a great chance at back-to-back.

Another very strong team, but again - doesn't anyone rate Ben Mathews?

He has been such an important part of our team for so many years. Just does the job week after week and stays out of the spotlight. He's part of the leadership group (remember he captained us twice this year).

Surely he HAS to make our starting 22? I think if you swapped Ted Richards with Ben Mathews that would be our absolute best team on the field.

Thoughts?

Matthews makes our best 22 easily. He's tough as nails.

No mention of Fosdike?
IMO, one of our more skillful midfielders, if not the most skillful. Don't underestimate what an excellent performance in a GF can do to a player's confidence. Nic will be good for us next year, injuries withstanding.

Secondly, I don't know why everyone is putting this Richards guy in our backline. Richards will be used as a presenting half forward in the O'Keefe style (Roos has told him this already before he signed with us). He has excellent endurance like ROK and is a very good mark. According to SEN, Roos told RIchards he will be a half foward and will be used at the back only if injuries mean he has to plug holes there.

This year ROK was key to our game plan as he presented up the ground, took marks and linked our runners from the backline to guys like Hall, Davis, O'Loughlin..... With Richards in there doing the same thing, hopefully we can be twice more dangerous going forward. I expect Richards to replace Bevan in our starting 22 and Chambers to replace Ball.

B: Matthews Barry Crouch
HB:C.Bolton LRT Kennelly
C: Goodes J.Bolton Dempster
HF:Richards Hall O'Keefe
F: Buchanan O'Loughlin Davis
Fol:Jolly Kirk Ablett
I/C:Schnieder Williams Chambers Fosdike

Need more youth in the team. How are we meant to develop anybody if we retain the same side year by year?

Must ins:
- Vogels
- Malceski

On the fringe:
- Moore
- McVeigh

One thing this thread proves is that if the attitude is right and we get a fair run with injuries we will there abouts again.

On the makeup of the side, I'm looking forward to Josh Willoughby making a step up this year. I liked what I saw in the ressies this season. Dempster will keep improving and Im hoping Vogels can cement a place this year.

Hopefully this will be the team in R22 of 2006;

FB:...Dempster...Richards...CBolton
HB:...Leo...LRT...Kennelly
CE:...Crouch...JBolton...Goodes
HF:...Fosdike..Hall..O'Keefe
FF:...Williams...O'Loughlin...Buchanen
RU:..Jolly...Kirk...Davis
BE:..Mathews..Ablett..Schneider..Doyle/Chambers

At the end of the year, if Davis isn't a full time midfielder, Richards our number one choice at FB, and either Doyle or Chambers a definite best twenty two player, I'll be dissapointed.

No place for Bevan, McVeigh, Spriggs and Chambers, who have all played thirty plus games.

No place for Fixter, Sunqvist, Moore, Malkeski and Vogels who have all played about ten.

Willoughby, Schmidt and possibly Matthew Davis and Andrew Erikson could all debut next season, and they don't fit into the line-up either.

You are very much mistaken about Malceski, CRB. The question isn't whether he'll be in the top 22 at the end of next year. It's whether he'll be starting in the centre square.

I've thought that since I saw him play down here a couple of years ago. I just cannot see anyone that he can displace from my team though.

Injuries certainly will bring him in.
Willo might slow down.
Schneider and Amon mightn't be automatic selections, either. Nor Dempster.

But that might only get him ten games. He should be the next midfielder in line.

Gosh line-ups are fun aren't they.

Amon is. Schneider and Dempster aren't. He could also force out Fosdike and Mathews.

Not that it matters too much. All 'Best 22s' are generally irrelevent.

I thought about mentioning Fosdike and Mathews. Fossie..Well, I'm a big fan of his on the bigger grounds. He's very inhibited on the SCG though, where he has to think quick.

Mathews should be dropped when the team is losing. He just looks terrible when the team isn't playing well. Great finals series, and I think his role will be taken over completely by Dempster soon, but I can't see Roos dropping him.

Best 22s are fun. Your such a bore snake man.

Agree that he plays well on the bigger grounds. I think he has a role at the SCG too, but it's probably on a half-forward flank. Actually, that lends itself to a partnership with Davis: Davis plays up the ground at the SCG where he can still push forward and be a goalkicking midfielder, and Fosdike on a flank. The reverse on the bigger grounds. I'm sympathetic to the Davis-in-the-middle faction, but I still want his kicking boot to stay where it can be so deadly.

Hmm... perhaps not. Hard to say.

I never said they weren't fun. Only irrelevent, Buff-nuff.

if you want Kennelly to stay in Australia - Sydney have got to start playing him up the field a bit - maybe in the center or on the half forward line!!! Challenege him and give him something new to do and he may stay in AFL for a little bit longer.

my two cents.............
