Westhoff has played 90 more games than Ben Reid and leads Reid in every statistical category per game other than a 0.3 deficit in average marks. By no measure has Ben Reid had a better career than Westhoff, Westhoff has played significantly more games and has performed better on a per game basis. Gee it'd be nice to play for a big Victorian club.
Ben Reid is a premiership player and an All Australian easily better than Westhoff and Westhoff has only played more because Ben Reid has missed a fair bit of footy to injuries

‘By no measure has Ben Reid had a better career than Westhoff’, apart from the measure of All Australian nominations and Premierships.

The premiership player argument is rubbish. There are a fair few hall of famers who are quite a bit better than Reid is but never won the flag.

Brent Renouf leads Gary Ablett Snr in premierships.

IMO Westhoff could have been better, but he often appears disinterested or lacking intensity and is only turning up to collect his paycheck. A couple of times a season he has a fantastic game but he also has games where you need to check if he has actually playing as he has zero effect. For someone who seems to have the potential to be very good, he has way too many below average games.

No wonder Carlton used their pick 1 on a solid half bank flanker and perhaps seemingly wasted their number 1 PSD pick on Cain Ackland.

Strange OP, the bolded all had good, solid careers and better.

Still, it was a KPP draft and they take more than three years to come good. Probably a walking advertisement of why its too early to call how good a draft is until you're four or five years in.

Great draft for the Pies. Including the rookie draft 6 2010 premiership players. Reid, Brown, Dawes, Goldsack, Wellingham and Macaffer. Includes the CHF, CHB and FB of the flag side.

Perhaps you need to get that list manager back. ;)

Still got him. That was Hines work.
So better drafter than trader?

Still don't understand why he hasn't addressed your KPP issue over the last couple of years, as you have plenty of quality midfielders.

Yep we are unbalanced

Ben Reid’s ceiling was far better than Westhoff’s. He intercept marked everything in 2011, and was critical to our flag push in 2010.

I don’t think Westhoff having the lead in things like hitouts or goals (Reid pinch hits forward at best rather than playing large proportions of his career there) in any way indicates their relative talents or standings.

I think you’re being pretty harsh on Aaron Edwards and Jesse White there not including them in your list of bolder players too. I’d argue they were as good as blokes like Garland and Dawes that you’ve included in bold.

I'd argue he's had a better individual career than Brown, Reid, Frawley, Tippett and Edwards from that first 18.

He comfortably has everyone on the bench and emergencies covered. The idea that someone like Dawes is ahead of him is laughable.
I agree he should be in the team. Definitely better than Dawes and a few others. However, he isn’t better than Reid.

One question I do have is what position does he actually play? He is t a KPP. He seems to play his best footy as a floating backman.

He's a utility, but his most common role is an intercept marking half back who then plays as a linkman when we've got the ball. Strengths are marking and running power for his size.

Was going to point that out too lol, pretty inconsistent list.

Hansen played a 150 games, he had a solid career, didn't live up to potential and injuries let him down a lot, but he had a good few years between 2012 and 2015.
