Normally at this stage every year there are several names doing the rounds, of players that could go early in the draft, or are just likely types. This time last year all the talk was about guys like Sellar, Gibbs and others. I was wondering if anyone knows who we should be watching closely throughout the season?

Chad Gibson for one I suppose (not to go early in the draft, but perhaps under consideration for a relist with Adelaide?).

Should probably start with the AIS/AFL academy blokes who can be drafted this year, most notably Brad Ebert and James Wundke.

The only scholarship player we have is Taylor Walker from Broken Hill. He is like 16 or something, under the NSW scheme that the AFL set up.

I will be attending most Northern Knights games this year so I can let you know about a few TAC Cup players that look pretty good. Matt Kreuzer and Trent Cotchin are not at all likely to be there by the time we have our first pick.

Specifically from the Port Magpies, Brad Ebert, Levi Greenwood and Keiran Hall are probables. Casey Carr, Tim Walsh, Xavier Watson, Steve Summerton are possibles.

Brad Ebert moves and plays a lot like Russell did. Can play midfield or as a leading forward. Quick off the mark. Big kick. Strong hands. Was SAs best player at the U16s last year.

Levi Greenwood is a buff midfield/half back. Think Shannon Hurn/Michael Wilson type of player. Is 185cm and 90kg. Very strong, throws himself in with no fear, great tackler, kicks the ball 60 metres. Drops the ball funny but boots it a mile.

Keiran Hall is a key defender. Pretty well built, reasonably tall, decent skills.

Tom Mcnamara from South is rated very highly as well

Forgot to mention Brett Hughes is a possible F/S pick for Melbourne

Crows to pick up Brad Ebert now that would be funny, what is the relation Macca19?

Summerton definitely a chance from what I saw against Norwood.

Brad is son of Craig.

Summo is a great little player, come on heaps this year so far. I think he may be too small and too slow for AFL level but someone might nab him as a rookie. Very similar to Scott Borlace.

Be silly not to pick him up if he keeps gettin BOG.

Ebo will be gone by the time we have our pick I would have thought. Port might be in trouble too if he/they has/have a good season.

surely people can discuss potential recruits whenever they want ?

i don't see a real problem, it saves the 10 million post being started a week out from the draft

I don't see a problem with discussing potential draft talent at this stage of the year. Things change and that can be discussed as the year goes on. I'll get a really good look at the Knights players this year and obviously a look at their opposition each week.

Far be it from the Adelaide board to complain about speaking too early when it comes to draft potential. Do a search on Bryce Gibbs and see how far back the threads go. ;)

Yeah exactly. I'm not starting this to ask "who do we pick??" I just think it would be good to find out who is being talked about so we can watch them closely throughout the season.

I still think it's an outrage that one of Russell Eberts lad's isn't eligible to be taken by you lot.

I don't care about whatever version of the FS rule we on now, **** knows there's been enough different ones - but if anything highlights what's wrong, it's this.

of course I hope he sucks and you're forced to waste a first round pick bidding to get him - but you should have that right! :D

Edit - I see he is son of Craig & not Russell. indignation false alarm :)
