What about Hugh Sandilands? A tall midfielder, great on both sides and will captain APS school side

I had a closer look at Sandilands on Sunday and he played reasonably well but he had 5 or 6 kicks where he got the ball in the middle and just balzed away into the forward line without looking. Oakleigh got pretty much smashed by Sandys midfielders and Hugh looked a bit on the slowich side compared to them. He was probaly Oakleighs best midfielder over the whole game. He took a few marks in space and had just over 20 posessions but he didnt use the ball well at times. I dont think it was a skill error as far as his kicking goes i think he was just off his game and made some poor decisions.

ant555 which of these guys are bottom aged? I know that Cotchin is, for instance. As the Pies are in need of mids, and the most highly rated are unlikely to fall to us, I'm guessing Hine might take a punt on a few bottom aged mids as he did in 2005 with Stanley and Cook

I will have to go back and check to find out all the bottom age kids :thumbsu:

tom frawley didnt really do much when he was in ballarat, but is a real top bloke
maybe has improved lots?

what about nick suban or andrew hooper?? these boys are very highly rated around the ballarat circles

Nick isnt able to be drafted this year but will be one of the better hopefulls for next years draft.

Outstanding work, ant - really top notch.

A couple of questions.

Ebert - What kind of a player is he? I saw him at the carnival and wasn't impressed (particularly by the fact he played so 'poorly' that I wasn't able to properly evaluate him. Is he inside or outside and who would you compare him to currently in the AFL?

Myers - Does he have a good turn of pace on him? Sounds like the kind of player the Hawks could be very interested in.

Going along that vein, the Hawks probably lack a quality, pacey outside midfielder. Who would you recommend in the 10-16 range who fits the bill?

Looking forward to your review of the KPP and Ruck!

He can play inside and get the footy but he is also good with the ball in his hands so he can work in both roles. Im not sure if he is a genuine clearance king but he does ok in that role when needed. He didnt do as well at the champs simply becasue SA only had two midfielders and the other sides put in strong efferts to tag him out of the games similar to what they did to Cotchin.

He seems to have a good enough pace off the mark. He doesnt get mentioned as much as a few other guys simply becasue he player in defence but it would surprise me at all if he goes earlier than a lot of people think.

If you had an earleir pick Cale Morton would be your man but i suspect he may go earleir. Cyril Rioli could possibly get back that far. Myers who has already been mentioned. All three have pretty good pace and good kicking skills.

Good work Ant.

This is the first time I've really had a good look at the draft and it sounds like there is a bit of talent there.

For Collingwood's first pick, I'd like Masten, Palmer, Selwood or Ebert. Our 2nd pick should be a ruckman. For our 3rd pick, we should look at another mid, so Dangerfield, Otten, Oliver or other rated players that have dropped would be good.

Last night I happened to see an old post of Gilly's where he mentioned Marlon Motlop being available at Carlton's 2nd selection.

How has Motlop played this year and what type of player is he?

He has been injured and is not been able to get his body right this year. He is a fairly small midfielder who is bottom aged (scrapes into the draft eligibility by a few weeks only). Has shown last year that he can play in the midfield and is not just be a forward pocket. Has flair and skills and will win his own ball.

The question marks will be on his body and being able to run the required kms to play in the midfield at AFL level or just be a burst player and whether his terrific U16 Champs was his level or not.

I would think he would be a 2nd round proposition based on what he had done in 2006 at the U16 Championships.
